Job summary

Centennial Centre for Mental Health and Brain Injury (CCMHBI) in Ponoka, Alberta, is seeking a Registered Speech-Language Pathologist II for its Seniors Mental Health Program. As a vital member of the team, you will assess, plan, and implement client centered treatment programs for patients with neurological illnesses and decline, including those with complex mood and thought disorders or moderate to advanced dementia. Engage in communication, voice, language, and swallowing therapies while playing a key role in enhancing patient care.

You will also collaborate with the Clinical Nurse Educator and fellow disciplines on Quality Improvement (QI) projects, ensuring we continuously strive for excellence. Strong time management skills and the ability to handle a complex caseload are essential.

Description

As a Speech-Language Pathologist, you will provide clinical professional practice both independently and as part of a collaborative team, which may include external partners.

You will be responsible for providing prevention, health promotion, identification, assessment, intervention, and case management. You will participate in the planning, coordination and delivery of rehabilitation services in collaboration with patients/clients, families, healthcare professionals and other partners.

Your leadership and interpersonal skills will aid you in supervising students and providing clinical guidance to other staff as appropriate. You will use your clinical expertise to inform ongoing quality improvement, service integration, and program development.

Required Qualifications

Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the Alberta College of Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists (ACSLPA).

Additional Required Qualifications

Previous experience within the last two years must include partnering with the Clinical Nurse Educator to assist in and engage with a quality improvement project focused on developing, implementing, and evaluating a Communication Access Strategy, as well as working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary swallowing team that includes Speech Pathology, Occupational Therapy, and Dietetics to assess, plan, and deliver evidence informed swallowing management.
