Job summary

School District 54 Bulkley Valley is seeking a Speech Language Pathologist Assistant to support designated students across multiple district locations. The role is 35 hours per week with pay of $29.74 per hour, in a school setting.

The successful candidate will work under the supervision of a Speech Language Pathologist, participate in program delivery, and help monitor student progress across sites within the district.

Qualifications

• Completion of Grade 12 (Dogwood Certificate) required.
• Head start: SLP Assistant Certification or equivalent post-secondary training.
• Training in Non-Violent Crisis Management Techniques and POPARD would be an asset.
• One year experience with students with speech/language difficulties in a K-12 setting.
• Familiarity with software used for students with special needs is a plus.

Description

Assistant will be assigned to work with designated students at multiple locations.

Qualifications

• Completion of Grade 12 (Dogwood Certificate)
• Speech Language Pathologist Assistant Certification or equivalent post-secondary speech language assistant training
• Training in Non-Violent Crisis Management Techniques (e.g. CPI training) and POPARD (Provincial Outreach Program for Autism and Related Behaviour Disorders) would be an asset
• One (1) year experience working with students with speech and language difficulties in a K-12 educational environment
• Familiarity with computer software for students with special needs would be an asset
• Demonstrated ability to use initiative to determine, judge and select appropriate course of action within the guidelines provided by the Speech Language Pathologist
• Demonstrated ability to manage time and schedules without day to day oversight
• Familiarity with Workers' Compensation Board (WCB) safety procedures
• Valid Class 5 – BC Driver's Licence and an exemplary driving record as demonstrated by a current drivers' abstract
• Physical ability to perform the required duties
