School District #54 (Bulkley Valley) is seeking a Speech Language Pathologist Assistant to support designated students across district locations. The 35-hour week position involves assisting the SLP under supervision and coordinating with school staff.

The role requires SLP Assistant certification, 1 year K-12 experience, CPI/POPARD familiarity, and a valid BC driver’s licence. A positive driving record and ability to handle materials safely are essential.

Formación

• Completion of Grade 12 (Dogwood Certificate).
• SLP Assistant Certification or equivalent post-secondary training.
• Training in Non-Violent Crisis Management Techniques (CPI) and POPARD would be an asset.
• 1 year experience with students with speech and language difficulties in a K-12 environment.
• Familiarity with computer software for students with special needs would be an asset.
• Ability to use initiative within guidelines from the SLP.
• Ability to manage time and schedules with minimal supervision.
• Familiarity with WCB safety procedures.
• Valid BC Driver's Licence with clean driving record.
• Physical ability to perform the required duties.

POSITION: SPEECH LANGUAGE PATHOLOGIST ASSISTANT - 35 Hours per week

Salary: $29.74 per hour (Effective July 1, 2024)

*Plus Benefit and Pension Package (as per CUPE Local 2145 Collective Agreement)

LOCATION: ALL DISTRICT SCHOOLS

*NOTE: Under the direction of the District's Speech Language Pathologist, the Speech Language Pathologist Assistant will be assigned to work with designated students at multiple locations.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Completion of Grade 12 (Dogwood Certificate)
• Speech Language Pathologist Assistant Certification or equivalent post-secondary speech language assistant training
• Training in Non-Violent Crisis Management Techniques (e.g. CPI training) and POPARD (Provincial Outreach Program for Autism and Related Behaviour Disorders) would be an asset
• One (1) year experience working with students with speech and language difficulties in a K-12 educational environment
• Familiarity with computer software for students with special needs would be an asset
• Demonstrated ability to use initiative to determine, judge and select appropriate course of action within the guidelines provided by the Speech Language Pathologist
• Demonstrated ability to manage time and schedules without day to day oversight
• Familiarity with Workers' Compensation Board (WCB) safety procedures
• Valid Class 5 - BC Driver's Licence and an exemplary driving record as demonstrated by a current drivers' abstract
• Physical ability to perform the required duties
