Sagkeeng Child & Family Services, Inc. is seeking a full-time Speech-Language Pathologist to join a creative, initiative, and dynamic multi-disciplinary team.

You will conduct assessments and develop treatment plans, while promoting a safe therapeutic environment and collaboration with educators and families. Requirements include a Master’s degree in SLP, CASLPM eligibility, and at least 2 years of experience with children and families.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or equivalent in Speech-Language Pathology.
• Eligible and/or registered with CASLPM Manitoba.
• Professional liability insurance is required.
• Minimum 2 years recent experience with children/adolescents and families.
• Experience with First Nations communities and school systems.

Responsibilities

• Conducts comprehensive SLP assessments.
• Provides observation and assessment of children with speech and language issues in home, community and school settings.
• Consults with school staff and mental health professionals on interventions.
• Evaluate and diagnose speech, language or swallowing difficulties.
• Develop and implement effective treatment programs.
• Provide coaching to clients and families about results and options.
• Establish goals and expectations for treatment.
• Coaching educators in classrooms on strategy implementation.
• Assess, diagnose and treat communication disorders including fluency and swallowing.
• Educate and counsel clients and families on communication and swallowing disorders.
• Liaise with family to update progress and adjust goals.
• Work as part of a collaborative team; provide training workshops.

SAGKEENG CHILD AND FAMILY SERVICES (SCFS) is looking for a FULL-TIME Speech-Language Pathologist. You practice empathy, understanding and patience. You promote a safe therapeutic environment. You will be joining a creative, initiative, and dynamic multi-disciplinary team. This position reports to SCFS Biidaaziiway Gamik Clinical Supervisor - Specialized Services. With reimbursement of annual CASLPM dues and professional liability insurance.

Requirements:

• Master's degree or equivalent in Speech-Language Pathology and/or Communication Sciences and Disorders

• Eligibility and/or registration with the College of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists of Manitoba (Reg. CASLPM)

• Professional Liability Insurance

• Minimum 2 years recent and relevant experience providing Speech Language Pathologists services to children, adolescents and families

• Experience working with First Nations people and communities

• Demonstrated working experience with the school system.

• Technical knowledge of different speech and swallowing disorders and how to treat

• Technical knowledge of specialized equipment for testing and treating speech and swallowing disorders

• Knowledge and awareness of cultural and socio-economic factors that inform service provision.

• Ability to administer and develop treatment plans and programs.

• Flexible work schedule (able to work evenings)

Responsibilities:

• Provides observation and assessment of children presenting with speech and language issues in the home, community and school setting s.

• Consults with school staff and school-based mental health professionals regarding the implementation of interventions related to behavior, social skills, emotional stress, or trauma.

• Evaluate and diagnose speech language, communication, or swallowing difficulties.

• Develop and implement effective treatment programs.

• Provide coaching to clients and families about results of testing and recommended treatment options.

• Establish client understanding expectations and goals for treatment.

• Conducts live in-classroom coaching of educators and school staff on implementation of strategies to promote school success.

• Assess, diagnose and treat communication disorders such as speech, fluency, language, voice and swallowing disorders.

• Educate and counsel clients and families on communication and swallowing disorders.

• Liaise with family to provide necessary updates on the progression of treatment goals and modify treatment goals as needed for subsequent treatment blocks.

• Work as part of a caring team of collaborative professionals which complement communication disorders.

• Provides training workshops in various settings.

• Participates in the clinical delivery of the team's clinical services, including developing individual service plans and coordinating community resources to maximize optimal mental health outcomes.

• Partnering with clients and families to formulate and implement individual goals with focused, targeted and measurable outcomes.

• Providing direct client support in collaboration with client’s families to plan, implement, and evaluate care.

• Utilizing research to formulate and implement evidence-based practices

• Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.
