Job summary

The Portage la Prairie School Division is seeking a qualified Speech-Language Pathologist to join our team on either a part-time or full-time basis. You will assess and support students with speech and language disorders in school settings and contribute to in-school programs that promote communication and learning.

The successful candidate will work with school teams, provide training to staff and assistants, and help implement screening processes to identify needs early.

Qualifications

• Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology.
• Must be registered with the College of Audiologists and Speech Language Pathologists of Manitoba.
• Eligible for Manitoba School Clinician's Certificate.

Responsibilities

• Direct assessment of students' speech and language disorders to develop in-school programs.
• Train and supervise speech/language assistants across each school site.
• Establish communication systems and programming in regular and special classrooms.
• Implement screening processes for early identification of speech/language difficulties.
• Provide language enrichment for small groups under Indigenous Academic Achievement grant.
• Lead staff and family in-services on speech/language and literacy topics.
• Collaborate with school teams, families, and external agencies to support students.
• Participate in early years intervention.

The Portage la Prairie School Division is seeking a qualified and passionate Speech Language Pathologist to join our team on either a part-time or full-time basis.

Key Responsibilities:

• Direct assessment of students speech and language disorders in order to develop in-school programs
• Training and supervision of speech/language assistants who carry out programming at each school site
• Training, modelling and establishment of communication systems/programming in regular and/or special classroom programs
• Implementation of screening processes to assist with the early identification of children with speech/language difficulties
• Direct language enrichment with small groups of students through the Indigenous Academic Achievement grant
• Facilitation of in-services for staff and families relate to speech/language and literacy issues
• Collaborating with school teams, families and collateral agencies to support students across the Division
• Early years intervention
