Shkagamik Kwe Health Centre is seeking a compassionate Registered Speech and Language Pathologist to conduct language assessments for children and families, particularly in support of FASD. This full-time, permanent position involves collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to develop integrative strategies.
The ideal candidate will hold a Master’s in Speech-Language Pathology and have experience with pediatric populations. Knowledge of FNIM culture is essential, and competitive salary packages are offered.
The Registered Speech and Language Pathologist position is suited for a compassionate, creative, innovative problem‑solver who works comfortably with both culture‑based and western services. As part of the FASD Multidisciplinary Team, the Speech and Language Pathologist will be a front‑line position with the primary responsibility to conduct language assessment for FASD according to evidence‑based best practice standards, primarily with a pediatric population aged 18 years and younger, and with adults as needed.
The successful candidate will be involved in a wide range of speech and language services with a focus on supporting children and families to improve their child’s developmental trajectory including assessment, report writing, the development of integrative recommendations and strategies in collaboration with the FASD Multidisciplinary Team and the child’s key stakeholders, brief intervention, referral to local resources and ongoing support through consultation.
A minimum of one (1) year experience with a pediatric population conducting formal SLP assessment preferred. New graduates will be considered and provided supervision. Experience working with First Nations, Inuit and Metis (FNIM) people in community‑based settings and fluency in a traditional language is an asset.
This is a full‑time (35 hours/week) permanent position. Some travel is required to provide mobile FASD clinic services.
