A leading school district in British Columbia is seeking a Speech-Language Pathologist for a temporary position from January to June 2025. The successful candidate will provide essential support to students with communication challenges across various needs. Job description

Richmond School District operates 37 elementary schools, 10 secondary schools, alternate programs, continuing education and a number of additional facilities. The district enrolls approximately 22,000 students (K-12) and employs over 3000 dedicated staff.

We currently have a 0.8 (FTE), Temporary SLP available for January 2025 to June 2025.

Job Description :

Speech-Language Pathologists are members of the Learning Services Department. In addition to being well organized and capable of working independently, the successful applicant will possess the skills necessary to work as a collaborative team member at school and district levels. All positions within Learning Services engage in supporting the District's Strategic Plan, specifically, Strategic Priority 1 : Inspired Learners and Strategic Priority 2 : Equity and Inclusion.

In the Richmond School District, a speech-language pathologist provides support to students in both elementary and secondary schools and will be required to support students with communication challenges across a wide spectrum of needs. The ability to work comfortably and effectively in a dynamic and changing environment is essential.

The successful candidate will also :

  • Design and implement individual / small group / classroom intervention strategies for students with communication challenges.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of IEPs or Student Learning Plans.
  • Provide ongoing collaborative consultation with school-based teams (teachers, educational assistants, administrators), parents and community agencies.
  • Complete informal assessments and observations, as well as standardized assessments with written reports presented at debriefing meetings.
  • Work with the SLP team and Learning Services Department to plan, implement and participate in professional learning opportunities related to communication at the school and district level.

Qualifications :

The successful applicant will possess the qualifications necessary to become and maintain membership of the College of Speech and Hearing Health Professionals of BC.
