Job description

Position Summary

We are seeking a motivated Registered Nurse with a dedication to delivering compassionate patient care to join our team in the Obstetrics department at Ksyen Regional Hospital.

Reporting to the Unit Manager, this Maternity-focused position involves identifying, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care to meet patients' physical, social, and psychological needs. Patient care assignments may include antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum care, neonatal care (Nursery), and Medical Surgical and/or Pediatric patients. Care is guided by current BCCNM standards of Nursing Practice and Perinatal Services BC Guidelines and Standards.

Northern Health Regional Perinatal Training Program Details:

  1. There are 3 training positions available for 2025/2026.
  2. Northern Health provides placement support and funding for tuition, textbooks, and travel expenses for clinical placements, as required.
  3. Learners should expect to commit 4-6 months for this education, which includes online and in-person learning.
  4. Additional study time outside scheduled hours will be required to complete the program successfully.
  5. Flexibility for practicums is necessary.
  6. Applicants must complete the education program before working in the department.
  7. Upon successful program completion, Northern Health requires an 18-month return of service in a relevant nursing position.
  8. Qualified applicants will be considered first for specialty positions. If none are qualified, training lines will be awarded to unqualified applicants with training provided.

Shift Rotation/Hours of Work: Monday to Friday, Days, 08:00 to 16:00

Ksyen Regional Hospital

The new Ksyen Regional Hospital welcomed its first patients on November 24, 2024. It features 82 beds, private rooms, and is a center for trauma services, orthopedic surgeries, pathology, radiology, clinical support, and pharmacy services. It is also a training site for medical students in the Northern Medical Program.

Terrace

The community of Terrace offers northern living at its best with mountains, rivers, lakes, and streams. The population is approximately 12,700, with schools and colleges including Northwest Community College and a UNBC campus. There is always something new to experience in Terrace.
