Job summary

Velan, a Montreal-based leader in industrial valves, is seeking a Talent Acquisition Specialist to own the full recruitment cycle for technical roles across unionized and non-unionized segments. You will partner with hiring managers to attract, select, and onboard top talent supporting operational and strategic goals.

Responsibilities include advertising, sourcing, interviewing, and coordinating pre-employment checks, while ensuring compliance with collective agreements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in HR/IR/Business or related field.
• Minimum of five (5) years in talent acquisition.
• Experience recruiting unionized and non-unionized roles.
• Experience recruiting skilled trades, production personnel, professionals and management.
• Knowledge of collective agreements and applicable labour laws.
• Proficient with recruitment tools and posting platforms.
• Bilingual in French and English, both written and spoken.
• Strong communication, organization and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Draft and post job ads on multiple platforms.
• Source candidates, screen resumes and lead interviews.

Reporting to the Human Resources Manager, the Talent Acquisition Specialist is responsible for the full recruitment cycle for specialized, technical, unionized, and non-unionized positions across Velan. In partnership with hiring managers, this individual plays a key role in attracting, selecting, and onboarding top talent to support the company’s operational and strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the entire recruitment process, from job requisition approval to hiring.
• Draft and post job advertisements on various recruitment platforms.
• Source candidates, conduct resume screening, and lead interviews.
• Advise managers on recruitment strategies and labor market trends.
• Coordinate pre-employment checks and prepare employment offers.
• Ensure compliance with collective agreements when recruiting unionized employees.
• Develop and maintain partnerships with educational institutions, employment agencies, and other recruitment sources.
• Participate in job fairs and employer branding activities to promote Velan.
• Support the onboarding of new employees and ensure a positive candidate experience.
• Produce recruitment performance metrics and recommend process improvements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Minimum of five (5) years of experience in talent acquisition, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience recruiting both unionized and non-unionized employees.
• Experience recruiting skilled trades, production personnel, professionals, and management-level employees.
• Knowledge of collective agreements and applicable labor laws.
• Proficiency with recruitment tools, job posting platforms, and the Microsoft Office Suite.
• Bilingualism in French and English, both spoken and written.
• Excellent communication and influencing skills.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage priorities effectively.
• Customer service and results-oriented approach.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Demonstrated autonomy, initiative, and discretion.

Special Conditions
