Job summary

Velan Inc. is seeking a Specialist in Quality Assurance to ensure compliance with quality requirements for projects and to help develop and implement methods to meet Velan's quality standards. The role reports to the Manager, Quality Assurance.

The position requires a Bachelor's in engineering (industrial/mechanical/metallurgical), multiple years of QA experience, and bilingual French/English communication. Join a team with strong growth and industry involvement in Montreal area.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in industrial, mechanical, or metallurgical engineering (OIQ membership an asset).
• Minimum of five (5) years of engineering experience.
• Minimum of three (3) years in quality assurance, quality control, or quality management.
• Experience with ASME/ANSI, ISO 9001, and NQA-1 is an asset.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

• Review project quality criteria.
• Draft contract instructions for inspection and testing plans reflecting customer order requirements.
• Present documentation and follow up with the customer.
• Act as QA representative in project management with clear communication to internal/external customers.
• Resolve issues related to contracts under your responsibility.
• Participate in development, review, and implementation of Velan quality procedures and instructions.
• Interact with customer representatives and regulatory authorities.
• Evaluate non-conformities issued by customers.
• Conduct internal quality audits and participate in external audits.
• Other assigned tasks.

We are currently looking for a Specialist, Quality Assurance who will report to the Manager, Quality Assurance and will ensure compliance with quality requirements for projects under their responsibility while contributing to the development and implementation of the methods and processes necessary to ensure that products meet the quality standards established by the organization.

Your profile

• Bachelor's degree in industrial, mechanical, or metallurgical engineering; membership in the OIQ (an asset)
• An equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered
• A minimum of five (5) years of work experience in the field of engineering
• A minimum of three (3) years of experience in quality assurance, quality control, or quality management
• Experience in a company serving the nuclear energy industry is an asset
• ASME/ANSI standards and material specifications applicable to the pressure vessel or piping/valve industry
• ASME Section III, Division 1 (an asset)
• ISO 9001 and NQA-1 standards, and auditor qualification (an asset)
• Proficiency in the Office Suite
• Proficiency in French and English, oral and written (bilinguism)
• Ability to process and synthesize large amounts of technical information
• Superior problem-solving skills
• Attention to detail and accuracy
• Autonomy and ability to work alone
