Job summary

Velan Inc., a Montreal-based leader in industrial valves, seeks a Maintenance Supervisor to lead a team of mechanics and electromechanics. Under the plant GM, you will drive preventive maintenance, keep equipment in top condition, and ensure work follows safety standards.

You will organize work via Maximo CMMS, monitor budgets, mentor staff, and collaborate with production to minimize downtime while advancing TPM and Lean practices. Fluency in French and English is required.

Qualifications

• 5–7 years of maintenance experience in conventional and numerical control machinery
• Experience in team leadership and supervision
• Proficiency with CMMS (Maximo) and planning tools
• Knowledge of Lean manufacturing and TPM concepts
• Familiarity with ERP systems (LN)
• Knowledge of OHS standards and safe-work practices

• Supervises maintenance activities and allocates work according to planning and priorities
• Ensures preventive maintenance follows schedules to minimize downtime

We are currently looking for a Maintenance Supervisor. Under the direction of the plant general manager, the maintenance supervisor leads a team of mechanics and electromechanics responsible for carrying out preventive maintenance, servicing equipment in optimal conditions and in good working order.

Responsibilities

• Supervises maintenance activities, organizes and distributes work according to the planned planning in Maximo (CMMS) and operations priorities and monitors progress;
• Ensures that preventive maintenance programs are conducted in accordance with maintenance plans, schedules and standards to minimize machine downtime.
• Ensures that work is carried out in accordance with good industrial practices and safety standards;
• Ensures health and safety within his/her sector of activity (behaviour, accident investigation, improvement, inspection and risk analysis) and takes the necessary actions;
• Organizes and distributes work according to operational planning and priorities and monitors progress;
• Communicates expectations and mobilizes employees to achieve objectives, manages employee performance;
• Maintains a positive work climate by motivating, stimulating and encouraging the employees under his/her responsibility to develop their skills and take initiative in the performance of their duties;
• Develops and manages the budget of his/her department in a rigorous manner;
• Regularly monitors budgets and takes corrective action to meet them.
• Respects the provisions and application of the collective agreement in force and maintains sound labour relations.
• Reduce downtime and improve equipment performance and collaborate with production to minimize interruptions.
• Participate in the management of maintenance parts and inventories.
• Train, mentor and evaluate maintenance employees.

Your profile

• Diploma of College Studies DEC in Industrial Mechanics
• 5 to 7 years of experience in the maintenance of conventional and numerical control machinery
• Relevant experience in team management
• Use of a computer-aided active maintenance management system (CMMS)
• Principles in Lean manufacturing
• IT systems and ERP (Office, LN)
• Knowledge of OHS standards and good industry practices
• Good understanding of preventive maintenance programs
• Experience in a company that manufactures high-precision machined parts (asset)
• Knowledge of TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) (asset)
• Bilingual French and English
