Job summary

Job Summary

The Specialist, Flight Operations Training & Recruitment supports the efficient delivery of pilot training and recruitment activities across all Porter Airlines fleets. This role is responsible for coordinating training administration, planning activities, records management, operational reporting, KPI development, and departmental workflow processes that support the organization's unified training strategy.


Working closely with Flight Operations, Crew Planning, Safety, People & Culture, and other operational stakeholders, the Specialist ensures training and recruitment activities are delivered efficiently, accurately, and in compliance with regulatory requirements and company standards. Through data analysis, performance reporting, AI-enabled tools, and continuous improvement initiatives, this role provides operational insights that support decision-making, enhance departmental performance, and contribute to the organization's continued growth.



Duties & Responsibilities


  • Support the day-to-day delivery of pilot training and recruitment activities across all fleets

  • Coordinate planning, scheduling, training resource allocation, and course administration in collaboration with pilot training planners and operational stakeholders

  • Administer and continuously optimize the Training Management System (TMS) and Learning Management System (LMS), ensuring training records and documentation are accurate, complete, and maintained in accordance with regulatory requirements and company standards

  • Develop, implement, and maintain operational controls, dashboards, reporting processes, and key performance indicators (KPIs) in partnership with the Manager, Flight Operations Training & Recruitment

  • Leverage data analytics, dashboards, and AI tools to monitor departmental performance, identify trends, maintain data integrity, and provide actionable recommendations that support operational decision-making and continuous improvement

  • Analyze training and recruitment data to identify trends, measure departmental performance, and recommend opportunities to improve operational effectiveness

  • Identify workflow inefficiencies and support process improvement initiatives across the Flight Operations Training & Recruitment department

  • Coordinate communication between Flight Operations Training & Recruitment, Crew Planning, Flight Operations, Safety, People & Culture, and other operational stakeholders to support departmental priorities

  • Support pilot and instructor onboarding, training coordination, forecast tracking, and administrative workflow management

  • Promote compliance with company procedures, regulatory requirements, approved training programs, and operational standards

  • Actively participate in Porter's Safety Management System (SMS) by identifying and reporting workplace hazards and incidents encountered in daily operations while promoting the Company's Safety Policy

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications


  • Post-secondary education in Aviation, Business, Training, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience

  • 2 or more years of experience supporting aviation training, recruitment, operational coordination, or related functions

  • Experience analyzing operational data and developing reports, dashboards, and key performance indicators (KPIs) to support decision-making

  • Experience administering or supporting Learning Management Systems (LMS), Training Management Systems (TMS), or similar platforms is considered an asset

  • Experience coordinating projects or departmental initiatives is considered an asset

  • Experience using AI tools, including agentic AI, to support reporting, workflow optimization, and operational effectiveness

  • Proficiency with Google Workspace, including Google Sheets, and experience using reporting or business intelligence tools (e.g., Tableau) is considered an asset

  • Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, maintain attention to detail, exercise initiative, and work effectively both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment

  • Demonstrated resilience and ability to balance competing priorities while working across multiple projects and with diverse stakeholders
