Qualifications

  • More than one year of progressive Communications experience
  • Bilingual English/French proficiency
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills; adaptable to different audiences
  • Multimedia content development for social media and internal communications
  • Experience using graphics/editing software such as Canva, Photoshop, Premiere Pro
  • Event management and coordinating with suppliers
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills
  • Willingness to travel within Porter network and pass security screening

Responsibilities

Job Summary

Porter Airlines is the fastest growing airline in Canada. We are taking on more aircraft and expanding our network of destinations across North America, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Central America. This generalist position supports Porter’s full range of internal and external communications, in both English and French. Responsibilities involve corporate communications, team engagement, media relations, crisis/issues management, special events, community engagement and other projects. This includes contributing to social media strategies and content creation together with agency partners.


Duties & Responsibilities

Communications – 75% of duties

  • Supports overall communications efforts, proactively providing independent advice and critical thinking in a team environment
  • Writes materials for internal and external audiences, including news releases, key messages, intranet, reports and emails
  • Assists in planning and execution of internal/external events
  • Develops and supports communications initiatives for all Porter departments and operational bases
  • Contributes to team engagement initiatives that advance business strategies, including Executive Communications, People & Culture projects, and Rewards & Recognition
  • Provides media relations support by facilitating timely responses and delivering Porter’s messages to its audiences
  • Maintains a current media list and produces media coverage summaries
  • Works with other team members to identify and resolve crises and issues
  • Assists with communicating company sustainability initiatives
  • Administer fulfillment of approved flight requests for partners and media
  • Part of the Emergency Response team, including the administration of materials for the department in conjunction with the Director, Communications & Public Affairs, and the Safety department
Social Media – 25% of duties
  • Collaborates with internal and agency teams to develop social media strategy and organic content to engage and build Porter’s online community
  • Contributes to maintaining a robust editorial calendar
  • Stays up-to-date on the latest social media practices
  • Supports management of the social media inbox and identifies social influencers as part of ongoing content and community engagement strategies
  • Administer fulfillment of approved flight requests for content creators
  • Analyzes effectiveness of social media channels through standardized reporting
  • Works closely with the Customer Relations team to support their lead role in online customer support and community management. This requires message development, issues management, monitoring and responding to posts using social media management software
  • Produces multimedia content, including video, for various channels
  • Identifies opportunities to enhance social media interaction with customers, partners and the general public
  • Participates in executing photo/video shoots
  • Actively participate in Porter’s Safety Management System (SMS), including reporting hazards and incidents encountered in daily operations; understand, comply, and promote the Company Safety Policy

Qualifications

  • Post-Secondary Degree/Diploma – Journalism, Communications, Public Relations or related discipline
  • More than one (1) year of progressive Communications experience working for a brand or agency
  • Bilingualism (English/French)
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills; ability to adapt style to various audiences
  • An intuition for engaging content and an understanding of the Porter brand voice
  • Multimedia content development skills for social media and internal communications
  • Capable of using graphics/editing software, such as Canva, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Premiere Pro
  • An understanding of the media and content creator communities
  • Event management and organizational skills; liaising with suppliers
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize
  • Exceptional interpersonal and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to work on-call and monitor issues outside of typical business hours
  • Flexible to travel within the Porter network on short notice
  • Must pass security screening and qualify for secure airport access
