Job summary

SaskPower is seeking a Specialist, Cloud Infrastructure (Solution Architect) to join an agile team focused on modern technologies and continuous improvement. You will provide expert guidance on cloud infrastructure, configuration management, and solution design, supporting secure and regulated environments.

You will act as a lead contact for cloud services, helping define standards, policies, and best practices while collaborating across teams to enable reliable, scalable solutions.

Qualifications

• Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology or related field.
• Azure certifications are required and/or preferred.
• Three years of Azure experience, including DevOps, deployment of Azure resources, CI/CD pipelines and IaC.

Job Summary

SaskPower is looking for a Specialist, Cloud Infrastructure (Solution Architect) to be part of an agile, innovative team focused on modern technologies and continuous improvement. The role provides technical expertise related to cloud infrastructure, configuration management and solution design, and contributes to documentation and knowledge standards. Operating as part of the Technology & Security team, the position supports the setup, ongoing operation and continuous improvement of modern, secure and regulated technology environments.

This position is responsible for acting as a leader and central point of contact, providing expert advice and direction related to cloud services supporting business operations.

Key Accountabilities

• Plan, research, develop, evaluate and implement processes, policies and procedures utilized for the strategies and initiatives related to cloud infrastructure and configuration
• Act as a subject matter expert in Infrastructure as Code (IaC), developing and implementing reusable deployment templates using Bicep and Azure Resource Manager (ARM)
• Assist in the configuration, implementation and maintenance of cloud infrastructure
• Automate Azure infrastructure provisioning and configuration using Azure DevOps and Power Platform
• Implement and manage CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps for automated deployments
• Apply Azure Policy, RBAC and security best practices to ensure compliance and governance
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to cloud infrastructure, deployments and configurations
• Maintain version control and manage infrastructure changes using Git repositories in Azure DevOps
• Optimize infrastructure for performance, cost efficiency and reliability
• Develop and promote FinOps best practices, driving cloud cost optimization, consumption visibility, forecasting and responsible financial management of cloud services
• Lead and facilitate a Cloud Community of Practice focused on FinOps, governance, standards and knowledge sharing
• Document infrastructure configurations, standards and best practices
• Represent the department and prepare and present material to internal and external audiences as required
• Maintain knowledge of industry developments and best practices related to area of specialization and adapt them to SaskPower’s operational environment
• Provide leadership and direction to project teams and/or assigned staff as required

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

• Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology or other related equivalent AND/OR;
• Related professional designation(s) and/or certification(s) including Azure certifications AND/OR;
• Three (3) years of related Azure experience, preferably in Azure DevOps, deployment of Azure resources, CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure as code (IaC)
• Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions including Bicep and Azure Resource Manager (ARM) templates
• Hands-on experience with Azure services including networking, compute, storage, identity and access management, monitoring and security services
• Experience in implementing Azure policies, RBAC and security controls
• Experience with Git repositories and version control strategies in Azure DevOps
• Experience designing and developing highly secure IT solutions
• Knowledge of networking principles and security best practices
• Team player with the ability to build and maintain strategic relationships both internal and external to SaskPower
• Innovative and results oriented thinker, with the ability to lead and provide advice regarding complex and confidential issues with sensitivity and professionalism
• Experience with establishing and maintaining standards such as: reference models, process models, architecture frameworks and methods
• Excellent analytical, research and problem solving skills
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
