Job summary

Queensway Carleton Hospital is seeking a Specialist, Business Development & Partnerships to advance growth through strategic opportunities and collaborations. Reporting to the VP, Transformation, Innovation & Strategic Partnerships, you will assess ideas, build business cases, and coordinate engagements with healthcare, government and academic partners.

The role emphasizes strong analysis, stakeholder facilitation, and the creation of value for patients and communities served by QCH.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business administration, health administration, public administration, commerce, finance, healthcare or a related discipline.
• Minimum five (5) to seven (7) years of progressive experience in business development, strategic partnerships, healthcare strategy, consulting, corporate development, innovation or a related field.

Responsibilities

• Identify and assess business development, partnership, and innovation opportunities that support QCH's strategic priorities and future growth.
• Conduct research, environmental scans, and feasibility analyses to inform strategic planning, investment decisions, and executive recommendations.
• Develop business cases, options analyses, and briefing materials to support organizational and Board decision-making.
• Build and maintain relationships with healthcare, government, academic, community, and industry partners to advance collaborative opportunities.
• Support the planning, implementation, governance, and evaluation of strategic initiatives, investments, and partnership agreements.
• Monitor emerging trends, assess risks and benefits, and provide insights to support continuous improvement and future organizational direction.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Reporting to the Vice President, Transformation, Innovation & Strategic Partnerships and Chief Digital & Privacy Officer, the Specialist, Business Development & Partnerships advances opportunities that support Queensway Carleton Hospital's strategic priorities, innovation agenda, and future growth.

As the Hospital's dedicated resource for business development and partnerships, the Specialist works with leaders across QCH and external organizations to identify opportunities, evaluate new ideas, and support initiatives that improve care, strengthen collaboration, and create value for the organization. Through research, business analysis, relationship building, and project coordination, the Specialist translates ideas into action.

In this role, the Specialist will:

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor’s degree in business administration, health administration, public administration, commerce, finance, healthcare or a related discipline.
• Minimum five (5) to seven (7) years of progressive experience in business development, strategic partnerships, healthcare strategy, consulting, corporate development, innovation or a related field.

SKILL REQUIREMENTS

• Strong knowledge of healthcare systems, public-sector governance, procurement, funding models and partnership structures.
• Ability to synthesize complex financial, operational and strategic information into clear, decision-ready advice.
• Strong strategic thinking, business acumen, relationship management, negotiation and facilitation skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare concise executive and Board-level materials.
• Sound judgment in assessing risk, feasibility, value, privacy, cybersecurity, legal, reputational and governance considerations.
• Ability to build credibility and work effectively with senior leaders, clinical teams, corporate services and external partners.

PREFERRED

• Master’s degree in Health Administration, Business Administration, Public Administration or a related field.
• Experience working within the Ontario healthcare system or another complex public-sector environment.
• Experience negotiating and implementing service arrangements or partnership documentation.
• Certification or training in project management, business analysis, change management, negotiation, financial analysis, health leadership or innovation.
