Job summary

Wickaninnish Inn in Tofino, BC is seeking a skilled sous-chef to lead kitchen operations at a resort setting. You will supervise cooks, create menus, and ensure high-quality, consistent dish production for banquet events and daily service.

Ideal candidates have 2–3 years of chef experience, strong leadership, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, on-site rural resort environment. English proficiency is required, and staff housing may be available.

Responsibilities

  • Estimate amount and costs of supplies and food items.
  • Maintain records of food costs, consumption, sales and inventory.
  • Demonstrate new cooking techniques and new equipment to cooking staff.
  • Supervise activities of chef and kitchen staff.
  • Create new recipes.
  • Instruct cooks in preparation, cooking, garnishing and presentation of food.
  • Prepare and cook full meals for events and daily service.
  • Plan menus and ensure food meets quality standards.
  • Recruit and train staff.
