About this Opportunity

The Richmond Country Club (RCC) is recruiting a salaried full-time Sous Chef to join our Culinary team. The candidate will report to the Director of Culinary and the Executive Sous Chef. The Sous Chef will collaborate with the Culinary and Food & Beverage Service teams to deliver exceptional service to our members and guests.

The Sous Chef will lead as a key member of the culinary team, preparing and supporting the execution of menus with quality, consistency, and attention to detail. They will ensure adherence to systems and standards set by the Director of Culinary and the Executive Sous Chef, inspire the team, and maintain cleanliness and safety standards. The role also involves acting as a liaison between the kitchen and Front of House staff.

The Sous Chef's Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and execute menus as directed, maintaining high standards of quality.
  • Manage various kitchen stations, including prep, cleaning, and stocking.
  • Ensure readiness for service and collaborate for smooth operations.
  • Prioritize tasks during busy hours, manage food quality, and support team members.
  • Maintain cleanliness and safety regulations in the kitchen.
  • Oversee food purchasing, inventory, scheduling, and labor management.
  • Support the Executive Sous Chef and step in during their absence.
  • Follow uniform policies, handle deliveries, and record temperature logs and food waste.
  • Continuously update culinary skills and knowledge of techniques.
  • Follow recipes, convert batch sizes, and manage prep lists efficiently.
  • Assist with staff meals, set up for service, and execute dishes with presentation standards.
  • Accommodate dietary needs and manage banquet preparations.
  • Train new staff and cross-train team members across stations.
  • Care for tools and equipment, report damages, and maintain cleanliness.
  • Create daily features and adhere to schedules.

What Makes You a Great Fit?

  • Passion for culinary arts and continuous learning.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Minimum 5 years of full-service restaurant kitchen experience.
  • At least 2 years in a similar leadership role.
  • Experience with high-volume food production and maintaining high standards.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Leadership ability, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to learn new systems and ensure team compliance with standards.
  • Knowledge of cooking methods and techniques.
  • Work authorization in Canada (Work Permit, PR, or Citizenship).

Required Licenses/Certificates:

  • FOODSAFE Level 1
  • Culinary Training

Role Expectations:

  • Proven leadership with an authentic management style.
  • Availability for evening and weekend shifts (Friday, Saturday, Sunday).
  • High integrity, professionalism, and ability to multitask.
  • Reliability in commuting to RCC in Richmond, BC.
  • This role is not eligible for tips/gratuity.
