Job summary

The Ottawa Hospital is seeking a Sonography Technologist for a temporary role with responsibilities including invasive procedure assistance and ultrasound imaging across mobile and static systems. Registration with Ontario's CMRITO and eligibility for Sonography Canada or ARDMS are required, along with CPR/First Aid certification and strong communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.

Fluency in English and French at an advanced level is preferred to support a diverse patient

Qualifications

• Registration with the College of Medical Radiation and Imaging Technologists of Ontario (CMRITO).
• Eligible for registration with Sonography Canada and/or ARDMS.
• Ability to assist in invasive procedures; knowledge of septic and aseptic techniques; good knowledge of diagnostic ultrasound equipment both mobile and static; CPR/First Aid certification; good written, verbal and presentation skills; sound judgement and problem-solving abilities; good interpersonal skills; eligible to work in Canada.

Basic Requirements

• Registration with the College of Medical Radiation and Imaging Technologists of Ontario (CMRITO);
• Eligible for registration with Sonography Canada and/or the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS);
• Ability to assist in invasive procedures;
• Knowledge of septic and aseptic techniques;
• Good knowledge of diagnostic ultrasound equipment both mobile and static;
• Certification in CPR and/or First Aid;
• Good written, verbal and presentation skills;
• Sound judgement and problem-solving abilities;
• Good interpersonal skills;
• Eligible to work in Canada.

Preferred Qualifications

• Progressive experience in Obstetrics and Gynecology, and Doppler examinations as it applies to Fetal Maternal pathology and to Gynecology;
• Certification by Sonography Canada;
• NT Certification;
• Proficiency in English and French oral expression (level 4 - advanced) and comprehension (level 4 - advanced).

The Ottawa Hospital uses a 5-level language proficiency scale to define the required level of language skills in English and in French for positions at the Hospital, and to evaluate job candidate language skills. Language proficiency requirements are based on the nature of the position and the level of interaction with French and English-speaking clients.
