Job summary

Rheinmetall Canada seeks a Solutions and Cloud Infrastructure Architect to design and lead the target IT architecture, focusing on Azure and AWS, while ensuring compliance with defense-sector security requirements. This hybrid role combines on-premise and cloud work, with emphasis on data sovereignty and architectural governance.

You will drive cloud migrations, define standards, and collaborate across systems and network teams to keep the platform secure and future-ready.

Qualifications

• Degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field.
• 7–10 years in IT, including at least 3 years in solutions architecture or cloud infrastructure.
• Experience with Azure (AZ-305) and AWS (Solutions Architect) preferred.
• Experience designing hybrid infrastructures and cloud migration in a regulated context.
• Knowledge of CMMC, CP-CSC, EIPA, and data sovereignty constraints for controlled goods.
• Knowledge of CSPM, Zero Trust, Defender for Cloud is a plus.
• Bilingual French/English.

Responsibilities

• Design and maintain the target architecture of the hybrid IT infrastructure (on-premise and Azure/AWS).
• Lead the migration of services to the cloud while respecting data sovereignty constraints.
• Define and document architecture standards, design principles, and reference guides.
• Conduct architecture reviews for new projects and technological solutions.
• Design hybrid identity, connectivity (ExpressRoute, VPN), and cloud security solutions.
• Support CMMC and CP-CSC programs on the technical design component.
• Ensure active technological watch and propose evolution paths for the IT platform.
• Collaborate with systems and network admins to ensure alignment between target architecture and operations.

As a Solutions and Cloud Infrastructure Architect at Rheinmetall Canada, your main challenge will be to design and lead the target technological architecture of the IT environment, with a primary emphasis on Azure and AWS platforms, while ensuring alignment with compliance and security requirements specific to the defense sector.

Here will be your main responsibilities:

• Design and maintain the target architecture of the hybrid IT infrastructure (on-premise and Azure/AWS cloud).
• Lead the migration of services to the cloud while respecting data sovereignty constraints (residency, commercial environments vs. GCC).
• Define and document architecture standards, design principles, and reference guides.
• Conduct architecture reviews for new projects and technological solutions.
• Design hybrid identity, connectivity (ExpressRoute, VPN), and cloud security solutions (Zero Trust, CSPM).
• Support CMMC and CP-CSC programs on the technical design component: system boundary modeling and architectural controls (an asset).
• Ensure active technological watch and propose orientation for the evolution of the IT platform.
• Collaborate with systems and network administrators to ensure consistency between the target architecture and operations.

THE SKILLS WE ARE LOOKING FOR

• Degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field.
• 7 to 10 years of experience in IT, including at least 3 years in a solutions architecture or cloud infrastructure role.
• Demonstrated expertise on Azure (AZ-305 or equivalent) and AWS (AWS Certified Solutions Architect or equivalent) preferred.
• Experience in designing hybrid infrastructures and cloud migration in a regulated context.
• Knowledge of CMMC, CP-CSC, EIPA requirements, and data sovereignty constraints for controlled goods.
• Skills in cloud security (CSPM, Zero Trust, Defender for Cloud), an asset.
• Excellent analytical, communication, and technical documentation skills.
• Bilingual (French/English).*
