Job summary

CPKC is actively seeking a Senior Solution Architect to drive enterprise technology initiatives across applications, integrations, and digital platforms. You will lead end-to-end architecture efforts, ensuring scalable and secure designs while collaborating with stakeholders to align with strategic objectives and transformation roadmaps.

The role emphasizes modern customer experience solutions, API-centric design, and multi-environment deployments (cloud, hybrid, on-premises) to enable business

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in CS/IS/Engineering or related field.
  • 10+ years in IT consulting, solution architecture, or related roles.
  • Experience with IT strategy, end-to-end application architecture, cloud/hybrid (AWS).
  • Knowledge of EDA tools and customer experience platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Provide solution architecture leadership across teams and ensure alignment with standards.
  • Lead architecture, integration, and management of end-to-end applications and APIs.

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

The Solution Architect is responsible for designing and advancing enterprise technology solutions that enable business growth, operational efficiency, and exceptional customer experiences. This role provides architectural leadership across application development, system integration, and digital platforms, ensuring solutions are scalable, secure, and future-ready. By collaborating with stakeholders across the organization, you will drive innovation, address complex technology challenges, and support the successful delivery of strategic initiatives.

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:
  • Provide solution architecture leadership to business and technology teams, ensuring solutions align with enterprise standards, strategic objectives, and organizational priorities
  • Lead the architecture, integration, and management of end-to-end applications, domain-driven APIs, event-driven ecosystems, and cloud, hybrid, and on-premises technology environments
  • Design and implement modern customer experience solutions and front-to-back-end application frameworks that enhance business performance, user experience, scalability, and operational effectiveness
  • Decompose complex business challenges, identify value opportunities, and develop innovative technology solutions leveraging modern application architectures, integration patterns, and emerging technologies
  • Partner with senior business leaders and Enterprise Architects to develop transformation roadmaps, define future-state architectures, and align strategic initiatives with corporate technology and business transformation objectives
  • Build trusted relationships across the organization, lead and influence decision-making, drive business value through collaboration and innovation, and consistently demonstrate CPKC's leadership competencies
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Science, or an equivalent combination of education and practical experience; relevant technical certifications in cloud, software engineering, or architecture are considered an asset
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in Information Technology consulting, solution architecture, or related architecture roles, with expertise in IT strategy, end-to-end application architecture, cloud and hybrid solutions (AWS), domain-driven APIs, event-driven architecture, and customer experience solutions
  • Experience leading business transformation initiatives, modern application development, customer experience platforms, and evaluating emerging technologies that drive measurable business outcomes and maximize the value of technology investments
  • Strong hands-on experience with Event-Driven Architecture (EDA) tools and technologies, including Apache Kafka, AWS EventBridge, AWS SNS, and related integration platforms; experience with AWS AI/ML services such as SageMaker, Bedrock, and Anthropic Claude is considered an asset
  • Strong analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving skills with the ability to articulate complex technology concepts, assess innovative solutions, apply Design Thinking methodologies, and collaborate effectively with business and technology stakeholders to deliver strategic outcomes
  • Highly effective communicator and relationship builder with strong emotional intelligence, confidence, resilience, and the ability to influence, inspire, remain composed under pressure, and foster trusted partnerships across all levels of the organization

Management Conductor Program

Becoming a qualified conductor or locomotive engineer is the single best way for a management employee to learn the business at CPKC. You may be required to obtain a certification or to maintain your current certification/qualification as a conductor or locomotive engineer.
