Job summary

Lumentum Ottawa is seeking a Software Verification Engineer (Co-op/Intern) to join the R&D Software Design Verification team. The role is a 4-, 8-, or 12-month term with a pay range of $24–$35 per hour and onsite work in Ottawa, ON.

Ideal candidates are currently enrolled in a Canadian post-secondary program and pursuing a CS/Engineering degree with strong OO design and problem-solving skills. Familiarity with C#, Python, and Linux is a plus.

Qualifications

• Strong object-oriented software design and implementation (any language).
• Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the ongoing development of automated solutions for the next generation optical switches.
• Collect and analyze test data to improve product performance and quality.
• Solve complex technical problems encountered during verification.
• Work closely with Optical, Hardware, Software, Firmware, Design Authority and Project Management R&D teams.
• Analyze and characterize device failures to improve reliability and robustness.
• Support co-op/intern projects and documentation throughout the term.

The Opportunity

What We’re Looking For

Education

• 2+ years towards a degree in Computer/Electrical Engineering, Engineering Physics, Computer Science or equivalent.
• Candidates must be currently enrolled in a recognized Canadian post-secondary institution.

The Following Qualifications Are An Asset

• Experience with C#, Python, bash scripting, and Linux.
• Experience in instrumentation and test automation, including interaction with devices under test and test equipment
• Understanding of optical systems; and,
