Job summary

Lumentum Canada is seeking a Reliability Engineer co-op/intern to support qualification and reliability testing for next generation optical switching products in Ottawa. You will work onsite with a cross-functional team, collecting data and learning how electro-optical products are tested.

The role targets 3rd or 4th year Electrical/Optical Physics students registered full-time or part-time in a Canadian post-secondary institution.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a degree in Electrical/Optical Physics and enrolled full-time/part-time in a Canadian post-secondary institution.
• Strong understanding of optical systems and instruments.
• Experience with optical/electrical measurements and statistics.
• Experience with databases, large data processing, and data summarization using AI tools.
• Knowledge of Python, Visual Basic or similar scripting language.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to draw meaningful conclusions.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a technical multi-project environment.
• Detail-oriented and well-organized, able to complete tasks on time.

Responsibilities

What You’ll Be Doing

Education

3rd or 4th year student pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Physics, or related discipline. You must be registered full-time or part time, in a recognized Canadian post-secondary institution.

Skills

• Understanding of optical systems and optical instruments
• Understanding of electrical and optical measurements
• Understanding of Statistics
• Previous experience working with databases, processing large sets of data, and summarizing using AI Tools
• Previous experience with Python, Visual Basic, or other scripting language would be considered an asset
• The ability to scrutinize and interpret data in order to provide meaningful conclusions
• Strong communication skills
• Ability to operate effectively in highly technical and multi project environment
• Organized and motivated individual with attention to detail
• Focused on completing assigned tasks in a timely manner
