Job summary

British Columbia Investment Management Corporation (BCI) is seeking a Software Engineer II to join our Technology Solutions team in either Victoria or Vancouver. You will design, build, and deploy scalable software across the full lifecycle and collaborate with stakeholders to deliver impactful technology solutions.

The role offers hybrid work with in-person collaboration and benefits. You'll work with modern stacks (.NET/C#/Python/JavaScript), cloud platforms (Azure/AWS), and CI/CD pipelines,

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Technology, or a related field
• Software development experience (1+ years for Software Engineer I; 5+ years for Software Engineer II)
• Experience in Agile environments (Scrum/Kanban) and DevOps practices
• Proficiency with .NET, C#, Python, JavaScript, Angular, HTML5, CSS3
• Experience with source control, CI/CD, issue tracking, and software lifecycle tools
• Experience with Azure or AWS cloud environments
• Strong communication and collaboration with stakeholders
• Certifications in Agile, Microsoft/Azure are assets
• Experience with AI, intelligent automation, or emerging technologies is an asset
• Knowledge of the investment management industry is an asset

Responsibilities

• Partner with business and technology stakeholders to define requirements and deliver solutions
• Present technical concepts and recommendations clearly
• Design, develop, test, deploy, and support scalable software applications
• Build and maintain automated testing and CI/CD pipelines
• Troubleshoot production issues and improve performance and security
• Evaluate emerging technologies including AI to enhance capabilities
• Contribute to solution design, roadmaps, and standards
• Collaborate through code reviews and knowledge sharing
• Identify risks and delivery barriers and drive outcomes
• Maintain technical documentation and support stakeholders
