Job summary

Manulife John Hancock is offering a 4‑month co‑op in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada, with hybrid work (in-office Tue–Thu, remote Mon and Fri). You will join a team of engineers to build scalable, reliable applications, participate in design reviews, and contribute across the full software lifecycle.

The program is designed to develop your skills through hands‑on experiences and mentorship, preparing you for a future in tech.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience with at least one programming language (e.g., Java, Python, Go, JavaScript).
• Familiarity with version control systems (Git, Bitbucket).
• Strong communication skills and willingness to learn in a collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to a team of engineers focused on building scalable, reliable applications
• Support application development, testing, and debugging efforts
• Assist in feature development and system enhancements
• Collaborate with engineering and business teams to build user‑focused solutions
• Participate in code reviews and maintain code quality standards
• Support deployment, monitoring, and ongoing application maintenance
