Job summary

Manulife John Hancock in Waterloo, Ontario, is seeking a Software Engineering Co‑op student for a 4‑month term running January 5, 2027 to April 2, 2027. This hybrid role requires in-office presence Tuesday to Thursday with remote work possible Monday and Friday, giving you hands‑on experience across the full software development lifecycle.

You will contribute to scalable applications, gain exposure to enterprise technologies, and receive guidance from technical leaders while developing teamwork

Qualifications

• Pursuing an undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• Experience with at least one programming language (e.g., Java, Python, Go, JavaScript).
• Familiarity with version control systems (Git, Bitbucket).
• Strong communication skills and willingness to learn in a collaborative environment.

We are currently looking for highly motivated students to join us in our Waterloo, Ontario, Canada office for a 4‑month co‑op, running from January 5th – April 2nd, 2027. This is a hybrid position, where you are expected to be in the office Tuesday‑Thursday, with the opportunity to work remotely on Mondays and Fridays.

Salary Range

Please note the salary range is expected to be between $52,650 CAD to $70,200 CAD.

The actual salary will vary depending on local market conditions, geography and relevant job‑related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience, and education/training. The annual salary will be pro‑rated based on the length of the work-term.
