Job summary

Altis is seeking a Senior Software Developer, ETL to design and deliver scalable data pipelines that support enterprise AI initiatives in a Toronto-based hybrid environment.

You will collaborate with Data Architects, AI/ML Engineers, Data Scientists, and business stakeholders to improve access to trusted data, streamline integrations, and accelerate AI-driven solutions. 6-month contract through May 31, 2027, with three days onsite per week.

Qualifications

• Extensive hands-on data engineering and ETL/ELT experience.
• Proficient in Python, SQL, API integration, and data transformation.
• Experience building production AI/ML data pipelines (INGEST, FE, TRAIN, INFER, RAG).
• Strong knowledge of Azure data tools, ML pipelines, and monitoring.
• Familiar with cloud data platforms, databases, and data integration.
• Understanding of data modelling, metadata, lineage, security, quality, governance.
• Degree or equivalent experience in CS/Engineering/IS/Data/Analytics.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable ETL/ELT pipelines for analytics and AI workloads.
• Build reusable data services and integrations across clouds, databases, APIs, and apps.
• Prepare structured/unstructured data for feature engineering and model training (including RAG).

Your Responsibilities

• You'll design, develop, test, and maintain scalable ETL/ELT pipelines supporting enterprise analytics, AI, and machine learning workloads.
• You'll build reusable data services and integrations across cloud platforms, databases, APIs, applications, and enterprise systems.
• You'll prepare structured and unstructured data for feature engineering, model training, inference, and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG).
• You'll implement established data architecture, modelling, and integration patterns while maintaining data quality, validation, and governance standards.
• You'll optimize pipeline performance, reliability, monitoring, and scalability while reducing duplication and accelerating data onboarding.
• You'll collaborate with technical and business teams to translate requirements into production-ready solutions and support deployment, troubleshooting, and documentation.

Skills and Qualifications

• Significant hands-on experience in data engineering, ETL/ELT development, software development, or enterprise data integration.
• Advanced Python, SQL, ETL/ELT, API integration, and data transformation skills, supported by strong software engineering practices.
• Proven experience building production-grade AI/ML data pipelines, including ingestion, feature engineering, training and inference datasets, and RAG/grounding data.
• Strong knowledge of Azure data platforms, Azure Machine Learning, and Microsoft Foundry/Azure AI Foundry, including ML pipelines, model training, testing, inference, and monitoring.
• Experience with cloud-based data platforms, databases, enterprise applications, file-based integrations, and modern data engineering frameworks.
• Understanding of data modelling, metadata, lineage, security, data quality, and governance, with strong analytical, troubleshooting, and collaboration skills.
• Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Data/Analytics, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
