Job summary

Altis Technology in Markham, Ontario, is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to design, build, and optimize scalable data solutions that support BI, reporting, and advanced analytics. You will develop reliable data pipelines and improve data quality to enable data-driven decision-making across the organization.

You should be proficient with SQL and Python (Pandas), and comfortable working in a hybrid environment with four on-site days.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience as a Data Engineer, ETL Developer, or similar data-focused role.
• Advanced SQL skills with demonstrated experience writing and optimizing complex queries against large datasets.
• Strong Python development experience, including extensive use of the Pandas library for data transformation, cleansing, and analysis.
• Experience designing and maintaining ETL/ELT pipelines and data integration workflows.
• Hands-on experience with relational databases such as SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Oracle, or MySQL.
• Experience working with cloud-based data platforms (Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud).
• Familiarity with data warehousing concepts, dimensional modeling, and performance optimization.
• Experience with version control tools such as Git and modern software development practices.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively across technical and business teams.

Responsibilities

• Write, optimize, and troubleshoot complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and database objects to support business and analytical needs.
• Develop robust data transformation workflows using Python, with a strong emphasis on the Pandas library for data manipulation and processing.
• Build and maintain enterprise data models, data warehouses, and data marts to support reporting and analytics.
• Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and integrity through validation, testing, and monitoring processes.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders, analysts, and developers to understand data requirements and deliver scalable solutions.
• Identify opportunities to improve data pipeline performance, automation, and overall system efficiency.
• Support data governance initiatives by implementing best practices for data quality, security, and documentation.
