Job summary

Alberta Health Services is seeking an Operations Manager, Social Work, to lead a team of social workers at the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Edmonton. The role focuses on safe care transitions, crisis support, and connecting patients with community resources.

You will oversee service delivery, partner with health teams and community agencies, and drive continuous improvement within a patient-centered care model.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in health or allied health-related field required.
• 3–5 years of clinical practice or health-related experience.
• Annual membership in good standing with an accredited professional association is required.
• Master’s degree and health-field management experience preferred.
• Computer literacy in Outlook, Word, ESP, e-People and electronic Meditech/connect care documentation is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Operational Leadership: Oversee daily social work operations, manage workload, staffing, and budget impacts.
• Service Delivery: Ensure high-quality, patient- and family-centered care.
• Partnerships & Collaboration: Build relationships with healthcare teams, community agencies, and external partners.
• People Leadership: Coaching, mentorship, performance management, and staff development.
• Workforce Management: Lead recruitment, onboarding, attendance, and succession planning.
• Quality & Continuous Improvement: Monitor service effectiveness and support priorities.
