Social Media Manager

Over the course of fiscal 2022-23, OLG delivered a record $2.5 billion in net profit to the Province of Ontario. We are ready to take this game to the next level and need a passionate Social Media Manager with a passion for sports, entertainment and pop culture, someone who has knowledge of and experience with sports betting, and will work closely with the Director, Paid Media, Social Media & Planning and the Social Media and Paid Media team as a shared services partner to our stakeholders, partners and agencies. They will be a social media subject matter expert who strategizes, advises and executes paid and organic campaigns initiatives to support on Facebook, Instagram, X, Snapchat, Reddit, YouTube and other social platforms. They will also collaborate with the social media customer service team to answer customer questions, will keep their eyes and ears on social media through social listening and will work alongside our social media agency to support community management.

YOUR ROLE IN THE GAME

Reporting to the Director, Paid Media Effectiveness, Social & Planning, you will be empowered to:

  • Act as a centralized service social media subject matter expert for the lines of business and the organization as part of the social media and paid media team.
  • Develop and execute social media strategies and plans supporting organic and paid social media initiatives for OLG and PROLINE/+.
  • Manage the social content calendars, ad trafficking calendars and publish posts on a regular basis, ensuring best practices are followed.
  • Actively monitor social media accounts looking for opportunities to interact with communities and build relationships with consumers, customers, influencers and users, as well as track shifts in technology and consumer trends as they relate to OLG and PROLINE/+, as well as our competitors.
  • Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders and external vendors and partner agencies to manage timelines, scope and quality for social media initiatives.
  • Manage and mentor our agency team, fostering an environment of growth, collaboration, and excellence in execution.
  • Develop processes and plans to continuously improve the effectiveness of marketing and communications efforts to meet business objectives.
  • Support an effective measurement, social listening and analytics strategy, that establishes KPIs and applies consumer insights to ensure data tells an effective story for stakeholders.
  • Support social paid media campaigns with the media agency ensuring optimal flight dates and media spends.
  • Manage social media campaigns in producing inspiring and creative on-brand social that meets digital and business objectives.
  • Support the work of the customer service social media team to answer customer questions.


This job requires some on the ground attendance at various events, both after hours and on weekends, with some travel within Ontario required. Job also requires after hours monitoring of social media in collaboration with our customer service team.

Work Experience

WHAT YOU NEED TO PLAY

  • 3-5 years related progressive experience developing social media marketing plans, strategy and execution for consumer-facing brands (paid and organic), and managing community management programs, as well as social media listening and reporting.
  • Experience leading or inputting to the social media creative process from brief to execution with internal and external partners
  • Experience developing support processes for complex organizations
  • Experience working in a fast paced and deadline-driven environment
  • Experience in budget and vendor management


Education

  • Bachelor’s degree or College diploma in social media marketing, digital marketing, or communications
