Qalipu First Nation in Corner Brook, NL is seeking a Communications Officer for full-time, permanent work. The role leads social media, content creation and website updates, coordinating events and radio show activities.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Business Administration or related field.
• Two years in a communications-related role.
• Office-based with occasional events outside the office; some travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• Lead the day-to-day management of QFN social media channels, including planning, creating, scheduling, publishing, and monitoring content.
• Plan and maintain a social media content calendar to promote QFN programs, services, events and initiatives.
• Create written, graphic, photo, and video content for QFN's social media and communications channels.
• Attend QFN and community events to capture photos, video, interviews, and stories for use across channels.
• Write, edit, and distribute content for the website, Maw-pemita'jik Qalipu'k newsletter, social media, and other channels.
• Maintain and update website content including news, events, programs and announcements.
• Use Canva and other tools to develop graphics, promotional materials, and social media content.
• Support basic video creation and editing for social media, events and promotion.
• Ensure communications align with QFN brand standards.
• Work with departments to develop and promote communications and marketing initiatives.
• Coordinate and promote events, including communications, social media and on-site support.
• Coordinate the Qalipu Today radio show, including planning and guest coordination.
• Support media relations with news releases, advisories and PSA's.
• Monitor media and track social media and communications performance.
• Maintain confidentiality, accuracy and compliance with QFN policies.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by the Communications Manager.
