Job summary

Qalipu First Nation in Corner Brook, NL, seeks a Communications Officer to lead daily social media management and content creation. The role supports the Communications Division in promoting programs and events, while maintaining the website and newsletters.

The position requires a diploma or degree in marketing/communications and at least two years in a related role, with regular office hours and occasional event travel.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in Marketing, Communications, PR, Business Administration or related field.
• Two years in a communications-related role (or equivalent).

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day management of QFN social media channels, including planning, creating, scheduling, publishing, and monitoring content.
• Plan and maintain a social media content calendar for promoting QFN programs, services, events, and initiatives.
• Create written, graphic, photo, and video content for QFN’s social media and communication channels.
• Attend events to capture photos, video, interviews, and stories for use across communications channels.
• Write, edit, and distribute content for the website, Maw-pemita’jik Qalipu’k newsletter, social media, and other channels.
• Maintain and update website content for news, events, programs, and announcements.
• Develop graphics and promotional materials using Canva and other tools.
• Support basic video creation and editing for social media and events.
• Ensure materials align with QFN brand standards.
• Coordinate and promote communications, social media, and marketing initiatives with departments.
• Coordinate QFN events and on-site support.
• Coordinate the Qalipu Today radio show content planning and guest coordination.
• Assist media relations with news releases and advisories.
• Monitor media coverage and track performance.
• Maintain confidentiality and comply with QFN policies.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
