Job summary

Resorts of the Canadian Rockies is seeking staff to operate snowmaking systems and related equipment safely. You will keep a daily snowmaking log and perform pre/post-operation checks, plus light maintenance like fluids, cleaning, greasing, and fueling.

You will lay out, connect, charge, discharge, disconnect, thaw, and drain hoses during setup and teardown, and manage pumps as required. A strong safety mindset and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

  • Mechanically inclined with basic operation knowledge.
  • Basic understanding of mountain resort maintenance and terrain needs.
  • Prior snowmaking or terrain-building experience.
  • Strong commitment to safety.
  • Attention to detail, communication and teamwork.
  • Able to work varied hours, including evenings and night shifts.
  • Physically capable of operating and maintaining equipment.
  • Able to work in isolated areas in extreme weather conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Operate snowmaking and related equipment safely and responsibly.
  • Maintain a daily snowmaking log and perform pre- and post-operation checks.
  • Conduct daily light maintenance on equipment, including topping up fluids, cleaning, greasing, and fueling as needed.
  • Layout, connect, charge, discharge, disconnect, thaw, and drain hoses during setup and teardown.
  • Activate and deactivate the snowmaking pump as required.
  • Recognize and report potential hazards or unusual situations to the appropriate managers or teams, and assist in emergency situations.
  • Assist maintenance staff and perform other general duties as assigned.
  • Perform snow removal, snow farming, and snow fencing.
  • Monitor and adjust snow guns as required.
  • Participate in performance management and continuous improvement efforts.

You Have
  • Mechanical aptitude and an understanding of basic operations and equipment maintenance.
  • A basic understanding of mountain resort maintenance and ski/snowboarding terrain needs.
  • Previous experience with snowmaking or terrain building.
  • A strong commitment to safety.
  • Excellent attention to detail, communication, teamwork and cooperation skills.
  • The flexibility to work varied hours, including evenings and night shifts.
  • The physical capability to operate and maintain equipment.
  • The ability to work in isolated areas and tolerate brief exposure to extreme weather conditions, including snow, wind, and cold.
  • Comfort working with high voltage and high-water pressure.
