Job summary

Grouse Mountain is seeking a Snowmaker for the upcoming winter season to operate and maintain snowmaking equipment, monitor weather conditions, manage water resources, and perform regular equipment checks to ensure high-quality snow. You will be part of the Mountain Operations team, contributing to service goals and guest safety.

The role requires ability to work in varying weather, read and follow technical instructions, and participate in training on equipment.

Qualifications

  • Operates and maintains snowmaking equipment and infrastructure.
  • Basic math and computer skills required for settings and monitoring.
  • Ability to read, write and communicate professionally.
  • Flexible shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays, weather dependent.

Responsibilities

  • Start up and shut down snowmaking equipment during winter season.
  • Inspect and perform scheduled/unscheduled maintenance on snowmaking machinery.
  • Contribute to resort cleanliness and guest safety.
  • Maintain positive, professional conduct with guests and staff.

Role Status: Full Time / Part Time / Seasonal / Hourly(Start Date Approximately October-November 2026)

JOB SUMMARY

As a Snowmaker, you are responsible for operating and maintaining snow-making equipment, monitoring weather conditions, managing water resources, and performing regular equipment checks to produce high-quality snow. As part of the Mountain Operations team, Snowmakers inspect and maintain the snowmaking plant machinery and infrastructure, work towards service level objectives and department goals, and are expected to deliver a safe and exceptional experience for all mountain guests.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Start up and shut down of snowmaking equipment throughout the winter season.
  • Regularly inspecting and performing scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on snowmaking machinery and infrastructure.
  • Contribute to our team goals by assuming responsibility for the cleanliness of the resort and safety of our guests and employees.
  • Maintain a positive and friendly attitude and demeanor in all internal and external interactions.
  • Meet service level objectives and department goals as set forth by Snowmaking Manager and Senior Staff.
  • Keep up to date on snowmaking technology and processes.
  • Other duties as required.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position reports directly to the Snowmaking Manager and Mountain Operations Duty Managers, with no direct supervisory responsibilities.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND ABILITIES
  • Proficient understanding of the understanding of the operation of Air/Water/Fan and Automated snowmaking equipment preferred.
  • High school diploma or trades certification, or two to three years related experience in electrical and/or mechanical fields preferred.
  • Ability to handle the physical aspect of on-hill snowmaking duties.
  • Ability to operation snowmobiles in various terrain - training provided.
  • Ability to handle the physical aspect of summer trail maintenance duties as needed - if employed year round.
  • Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in a professional manner.
  • Basic math skills and computer skills required.
  • Ability to solve practical problems in all weather conditions.
  • Flexible work schedule to accommodate unplanned changes due to weather, temperatures, and equipment.
  • Valid Drivers license, must be willing to obtain resort certification and training on any necessary equipment.
  • Other duties as required.
WORKING CONDITIONS

Shift hours are weather dependent. Due to the nature of our coastal winters, this position requires flexibility in terms of your work availability. Work schedules have a variety of start times, including overnights, weekends, and holidays. Shifts require standing, lifting, twisting, shoveling, snow removal, snowmobiling, and other forms of manual tasks.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

$21.78 to $25.47/hour
