Job summary

Cypress Mountain is seeking crew members for the Snowmaking Team to transform the mountain into a winter wonderland. You will operate snowmaking gear, monitor snow quality, and coordinate with departments for safe operations, including overnight shifts.

We value mechanical aptitude, skiing/snowboarding ability, and readiness to work in all winter conditions. A valid Canadian work status, license, and winter-ready transport are required.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Intermediate skiing/snowboarding ability.
  • Competent snowmobile operating skills an asset.
  • Previous experience working in a mountain environment an asset.
  • Previous snowcat operating experience an asset.
  • Legally able to work in Canada.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Insured and reliable vehicle, with winter tires, to get to/from the mountain.
  • Any applicable safety training is an asset (e.g. WHMIS, Fall protection).
  • Availability to work 12-hour shifts, including overnight shifts.

Responsibilities

  • Set up, position, and operate snowmaking equipment and hardware to support snow production across the mountain.
  • Follow established pump station and water management procedures, with training provided.
  • Adjust, troubleshoot, repair, and replace equipment, parts, and components using hand and power tools.
  • Clean, lubricate, and perform routine maintenance to keep snowmaking equipment operating safely and efficiently.
  • Work outdoors in all weather conditions, including overnight shifts.
  • Communicate and coordinate with other departments to support safe and efficient mountain operations.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.

Job description

Be part of the crew that helps transform Cypress Mountain into a winter wonderland! As a member of our Snowmaking Team, you’ll work alongside an awesome group within the Operations Department, guided by the Snowmaking Supervisors and Manager.

You’ll cruise the mountain by truck or snowmobile, keeping an eye on snow quality and weather conditions while making sure everything runs smoothly. This role is all about teamwork, adventure, and working outdoors, on the overnight shift, in all kinds of winter weather.

Shift work is part of the fun – when the temperatures are right, there is lots of snowmaking to be done. If weather is warm, we find other work for you on the mountain. 40hours/week.

QUALIFICATIONS/COMPETENCIES:

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and a willingness to learn new equipment and systems.
  • Advanced skiing or snowboarding ability required.
  • Comfortable working outdoors for extended periods in all weather conditions.
  • Physically capable of working safely on steep, uneven, and challenging mountain terrain.
  • Appropriate winter footwear required.
  • Ability to safely lift and carry loads of 50+ lbs.
  • Physically and mentally prepared for demanding work, with a “can-do” attitude and a willingness to get the job done.
  • Strong attention to detail, commitment to safety, and reliable work ethic are non-negotiable.
  • Availability to work 12-hour shifts, including overnight shifts.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High School diploma or equivalent education.
  • Intermediate skiing/snowboarding ability.
  • Competent snowmobile operating skills an asset.
