Fort McMurray Catholic Schools is seeking a half-time Educational Assistant in EC S. The successful candidate will support students' growth in cognition, communication, physical and social development and assist with teacher-directed programming in a collaborative environment.

The role requires working with teachers, CST and the multi-disciplinary team to implement strategies from specialists and support literacy/numeracy activities, with potential involvement in a swim program and safety tasks.

Qualificações

• Educational Assistant Certificate or Diploma is required.
• Experience supporting cognition, communication, physical and social development is desirable.
• Ability to work collaboratively under supervision of teachers and other professionals.

Responsabilidades

• Support students' growth in cognition, communication, physical and social development.

Requirements

• Support students' growth in the areas of cognition, communication, physical and social development
• Support and/or implement teacher directed programming
• Work collaborative under guidance of teacher, CST and other member of the multi-disciplinary team
• Implement specialist (OT, PT, SLP, etc) strategies to achieve required goals
• Able to work with student to implement and support literacy/numeracy
• Toileting routines if required
• Communicate effectively with students using age appropriate positive reinforcements and/or school specific behaviour strategies
• Work and play at student's physical level of their activities
• Swim program, if required
• Physically handle and transfer students when unsafe
• Physical ability to lift and move students

Employee is expected to work with behaviours related/associated with conduct, obsessive/compulsive, trauma and stress related, severe chronic depressive, feeding and/or eating disorders etc. Other behaviours related to ADHD, emotional/behavioural, learning and speech & language-related disabilities, etc may be encountered.
