Job summary

Nova Scotia Community College is seeking a Casual Program Assistant 2 (TS10) at the Ivany Campus, Dartmouth, NS. The role supports carpentry and electrical labs, assists with demonstrations, and manages lab/shop administration. Commences ASAP with an expected end date around December 21, 2026, potential extension.

Applicants should have a Red Seal trade credential and WHMIS/OH&S training or willingness to obtain. Strong communication, customer service, and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum educational qualification is a relevant post-secondary diploma or certification in a Red Seal Trade.
• Training in WHMIS and Occupational Health and Safety regulations as well as Standard First Aid, CPR and discipline relevant safety training or willingness to obtain.
• Minimum of five years (full-time equivalent) of recent and related occupational experience in the trades.
• Familiar with Microsoft Office Suite; experience with Brightspace or other Learning Management Systems would be considered an asset.

Responsibilities

• Report to the Academic Chair and provide laboratory/shop, program and administrative support.
• Maintain the laboratory/shop environment, handle media/equipment prep and inventory; assist with lab/shop demonstrations and prepare for labs.
• Assist in classroom and lab/shop demonstrations and prepare projects and mock-ups in advance.
• Assist Faculty with safe operation of tools and equipment and safe work practices.
