Nova Scotia Community College is seeking a Casual Program Assistant 2 (TS10) at the Ivany Campus, Dartmouth, NS. Qualifications

  • Minimum educational qualification is a relevant post-secondary diploma or certification in a Red Seal Trade.
  • Training in WHMIS and Occupational Health and Safety regulations as well as Standard First Aid, CPR and discipline relevant safety training or willingness to obtain.
  • Minimum of five years (full-time equivalent) of recent and related occupational experience in the trades.
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office Suite; experience with Brightspace or other Learning Management Systems would be considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Report to the Academic Chair and provide laboratory/shop, program and administrative support.
  • Maintain the laboratory/shop environment, handle media/equipment prep and inventory; assist with lab/shop demonstrations and prepare for labs.
  • Assist in classroom and lab/shop demonstrations and prepare projects and mock-ups in advance.
  • Assist Faculty with safe operation of tools and equipment and safe work practices.

What you\'ll do
Responsibilities
  • Reporting to the Academic Chair, Institute of Skilled Trades, and under the direct supervision of the Carpentry and Electrical program Faculty, you will provide laboratory/shop, program and administrative support.
  • You will maintain the laboratory/shop by managing the lab/shop environment, media and/or equipment preparation, and maintenance of the inventory system for lab/shop supplies. Additionally, you will assist with lab/shop demonstrations; provide administrative preparation for the lab/shop, assist with technology needs, including computers; and work with students, Faculty and staff in a laboratory/shop setting.
  • You will also assist in classroom and lab/shop demonstrations and prepare projects and mock-ups in advance of the need.
  • You will assist Faculty with the safe operation of tools and equipment and safe work practices.

  • Experience in training/facilitation preparation, delivery and evaluation would be considered an asset.
  • Experience supporting/providing service to students and prospective students would be considered an asset.
