Job summary

Catalent Pharma Solutions in Strathroy, Ontario, invites applicants for the Skilled Trades role on a 100% on-site basis. The position supports startup activities for a new Zydis manufacturing site, performing maintenance and repair of production equipment, and ensuring cGMP compliance and safety.

Reporting to the Facility and Maintenance Supervisor, you will diagnose mechanical and control issues, execute PMs and WO, update the CMMS, and collaborate to minimize downtime while supporting 24/7

Qualifications

  • Must have high school diploma or GED and trades certification.
  • Licensed Industrial Electrician (309A/442A) required.
  • Experience with shop tools, lathe, mills, grinders, drill presses, and PLC/HMI.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble, repair, and fabricate to maintain machinery and facility.
  • Diagnose mechanical and control problems and fix per manuals.
  • Perform PMs, work orders, calibrations, and validations to cGMP standards.
  • Update CMMS with required information and support contractors.
  • Maintain tools and utilities to support manufacturing lines.
  • Collaborate to reduce downtime and support 24/7 operations.

Position Summary
  • Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 7 AM-3:30 PM; will transition to rotating continental shifts in the future

  • This position is 100% on-site in Strathroy, Ontario.

The newly launched manufacturing facility on Adair Blvd marks a pivotal expansion of Catalent's Zydis® technology, a globally renowned, fast-dissolve oral dosage form that has transformed the lives of millions of patients worldwide. At Adair, you’ll play a vital role in the startup of a site built for innovation and excellence, from installation and qualification to regulatory approval and commercial manufacturing.

Reporting to the Facility and Maintenance Supervisor, the Skilled Trades performs reactive, assigned, and preventative maintenance on all production and supporting equipment within the facility. The Skilled Trades diagnoses, troubleshoots, and provides mechanical/hydraulic/pneumatic/control system support on all equipment.

The Role
  • Assembles, disassembles, installs, repairs, and/or fabricates as needed to maintain machinery, equipment, spare parts, tooling, change-parts, or facility in accordance to technical manuals/schematics/blueprints/SOPs/standard practices/experience/site resources/OEM resources as needed

  • Diagnoses and troubleshoots both mechanical and/or control problems and corrects as required in accordance to technical manuals/schematics/blueprints/SOPs/standard practices/experience/site resources/OEM resources as needed

  • Completes system support work (fuse changes, contactor resets, temperature controller adjustments, calibrations, PLCs, etc.) as trained; completes documentation (work orders, PMs, calibration forms, validation documents, etc.) to cGMP/SOP standards

  • Complies with PM, SOP, cGMP, and regulatory requirements

  • Executes assigned PMs and work orders as scheduled on time; supports on-site contractors as necessary for PM or project activity

  • Updates the CMMS with the required information

  • Maintains tools, toolboxes, and shop areas in compliance with cGMP/SOP standards; Maintain all utilities needed to support the manufacturing lines including steam boilers, Purified Water System and Liquid Nitrogen system.

  • Collaborate with team to proactively assess ways to reduce downtime on the manufacturing line and ensure 24/day operation

  • Other duties as assigned

The Candidate
  • High School Diploma, GED/CAEC and/or educational credential assessment (ECA) is required

  • Completion of Tradesman and Qualification Act requirements

  • Licensed by Ministry of Skills and Development - Required. Licensed Industrial Electrician certification required. (309A, 442A)

  • Experience in the following; Shop tools, lathe, mills, grinders, drill presses, precision measurement instruments, power tools, technical manuals/schematics/blueprints, controllers, PLC & HMI, PID, calibration, and engineering drawings

  • Knowledge of workplace safety and safe lifting and handling procedures; Knowledge of First Aid and CPR an asset

  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills (both verbal and written); ability to work independently, as required to complete daily activities according to schedule

  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills; attention to detail coupled with a sense of urgency

  • Basic computer skills to allow for electronic maintenance task documentation.

  • Currently Catalent does not participate in the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP).

  • Candidates with non-Canadian credentials must provide an evaluation confirming the Canadian equivalency of the credentials as determined by the Alliance of Credential Evaluation Services of Canada (ACESC) such as WES.

  • While performing the responsibilities of the job, the employee is required to talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit and use their hands and fingers, to handle or feel and to manipulate keys on a keyboard. Use of manual dexterity is required. The employee is often required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, bend or twist, and to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision. The employee is required to stand for long periods of time and occasionally bend and lift.

  • This role is required is to be clean shaven to wear a respirator, which is deemed mandatory to meet Health & Safety requirements.

Pay

The final hourly rate offered to a successful candidate may vary within this range $42.20 - $47.20, and will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to: the type and length of experience within the job, type and length of experience within the industry, skillset, education, business needs, etc. Catalent is a global employer, and this salary range does not reflect positions that work in other countries.
