Job summary

Ledcor in Fort McMurray is hiring skilled turnaround laborers to support shutdowns across Alberta’s industrial facilities. You will assist trades, move materials, and help prepare rigging equipment while maintaining safety and productivity on 12-hour shifts.

Travel and camp accommodations are provided, with 24 days on/4 days off or 6 on/1 off schedules, base wage 26.21–33.02 CAD per hour, overtime after 40 hours, and CLAC benefits.

Qualifications

• Previous labourer experience in industrial or construction environments is preferred.
• Experience on shutdowns, turnarounds, or outage projects is required.
• Ability to safely use common hand tools and equipment.
• Strong understanding of rigging practices and lifting equipment.

Responsibilities

• Perform general labour duties to support shutdown activities in industrial environments.
• Assist tradespeople with maintenance, repairs, equipment replacement, and site preparation.
• Handle and move materials, tools, and equipment safely and efficiently.
• Inspect and prepare rigging equipment, including slings, chains, hooks, shackles, and lifting devices.
• Follow all permit, isolation, and LOTO procedures to ensure safe work execution.
• Adapt to changing priorities and support critical path activities in a fast-paced shutdown environment.
• Maintain productivity and quality standards during extended shifts and compressed project schedules.
• Participate in FLHAs, toolbox talks, and safety programs while contributing to a strong safety culture.
• Work collaboratively with supervisors, tradespeople, and other crew members to achieve project objectives.
• Ensure loads are properly balanced, secured, and compliant with weight and capacity requirements.

Ledcor is looking for Skilled Turnaround Laborer to join our team supporting major shutdowns and turnarounds across Alberta’s industrial facilities.

This is not routine construction work. It’s high-intensity, short-duration execution where skilled tradespeople bring focus, precision, and teamwork to meet demanding turnaround timelines.

Essential Responsibilities:

Qualifications:

• Previous labourer experience in industrial, construction, oil and gas, or maintenance environments is considered an asset
• Experience working on shutdowns, turnarounds, or outage projects is a must
• Ability to safely use common hand tools and equipment
• Strong understanding of rigging practices
• Experience working with cranes, hoists, and other lifting equipment
• Strong understanding of workplace safety practices and procedures
• Ability to follow directions and work effectively in a team environment
• Comfortable working in physically demanding conditions, including lifting, carrying, climbing, and standing for extended periods
• Ability to work 10-12+ hour shifts, overtime, and consecutive days during shutdown periods
• Demonstrated commitment to safety, quality, and productivity

Compensation & Schedule:

• Base Wage: $26.21 to $33.02/hour (per existing CLAC agreement and applicable trade verification)
• Overtime: 1.5x after 40 hours/week
• Schedule: 24 days on / 4 days off or 6 days on / 1 day off
• Hours: 12 hours/day
