We are currently seeking a Site Supervisor to support KBL’s Projects – Dredging and Dewatering.

Position Summary:

The Dredging Site Supervisor is responsible for personnel and projects under their operation and oversees the workforce and equipment for assigned project(s), ensuring the most skilled individuals with adequate qualifications are working on sites with the right equipment to complete the projects in a timely manner. The successful candidate will assist in the training and maintaining of well-prepared employees, provide day-to-day supervision and be responsible for safety, quality and productivity as well as being responsible for scoping work. The Dredging and Dewatering Site Supervisor will also set the expectation of continuous improvement and maintain the highest regard for customer service when dealing with external and internal customers.

Safety:

  • Ability to consistently act as a leader and a role model with respect to KBL's Health & Safety Program, on and off the work site.
  • Leading by example and driving all of KBL's safety policies and procedures including your personal and teams’ personal safety contracts.
  • Coordinate and communicate effectively with the safety department.
  • Arrange, direct, and partake in safety related meetings.
  • Complete & review all associated daily safety paperwork.
  • Initiate incident notifications & manage on site activities as required to ensure proper processes are followed.
  • Have all applicable documentation readily available on site and be familiar with required information for each specific project.
  • Prepare daily, weekly and monthly reports as required.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and oversee all site crew including site operators, labourers, and contractors.
  • Coordinate and oversee all third-party vendors coming on to site.
  • Arrange for efficient utilization of manpower / equipment / deliveries / etc. as determined by project schedule.
  • Maintain/Operate centrifuges, dredges and affiliated dredging and dewatering equipment as needed.
  • Performs general duties required to complete work, such as: Site setup and site teardown.
  • Plans and lays out jobs from blueprints, drawings, sketches, service manuals or verbal instructions.
  • Coordinates activities with other departments and divisions.
  • Conduct pre-work and pre-bid meetings to effectively scope new work.
  • Completes all required paperwork.
  • Other tasks and special projects as assigned by the direct supervisor.
  • Track costs as directed by Project Manager &/or Operations Manager
  • Responsible for overall site safety and compliance. Including reporting of incidents and hosting daily tailgate meetings with the crew.
  • Ensure equipment on site is properly inspected, utilized, greased, and refueled daily.
  • Able to follow budget and maintain schedule proposed for each project.
  • Ensure industry best practices are followed for tasks.
  • Manage a crew of 5-20 employees at one time.
  • Supervisor would report directly to the Operations Manager.
  • Communicate with client, Operations Manager, Project Manager, subcontractors, and personnel.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years’ industry related work experience or demonstrated competency.
  • Mechanically inclined and willing to learn.
  • An understanding of the legal obligations of an individual in a supervisory role with respect to the relevant provincial safety laws and legislation.
  • Ability to liaison with customers, suppliers, subcontractors and consultants, along with ability to diplomatically resolve any issues and/or concerns that may occur.
  • Excellent supervisory and conflict resolution skills.
  • Proficient in operating Excavators or Loaders.
  • Ability to organize and supervise subcontractors.
  • Ability to schedule work in an organized and efficient manner.
  • Ability to supervise and organize several work crews on a complex site.
  • Strong work ethic and willingness to persevere through difficult weather conditions, challenging work site environments and long demanding work days.
  • Willingness to work away from home for significant blocks of time, moving from project to project as required.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting a minimum of 55lbs.
  • Willingness to respond on short notice to Emergency Response calls and worksite problem areas as required and accept long demanding days at the assigned site.
  • Strong computer skills with ability to effectively utilize Microsoft Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint, Outlook and Windows.
  • Valid and current Class 5 Driver’s License.
