Our client is currently recruiting for a Site Supervisor to add to the team in Ontario.
The project involves overseeing all heavy civil, structural, earthworks, sewer, watermain, and road construction projects on a prestigious site.
Under the general direction of the Site Project Manager, the Structures Superintendent will plan, schedule, and manage daily site operations related to heavy civil engineering projects, including supervision of all direct labor and subcontractors.
The Structures Superintendent is responsible for ensuring that project work is completed safely, on schedule, and in compliance with contract requirements and budget. All work must be performed efficiently and to the highest standards of quality and workmanship.
The Site Supervisor is accountable for leadership, supervision, and project management across all phases of structural, earthworks, sewer, watermain, and road construction projects.
The Site Supervisor must manage and coordinate key project elements—labor, equipment, materials, and subcontractors—in a safe and profitable manner.
Site Supervisor Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Allocate labor, equipment, materials, and subcontractors effectively to maximize safety and profitability while minimizing costs and deficiencies.
- Schedule projects to meet deadlines within budget and scope.
- Communicate scope of work to foremen, review production, quality, and contract compliance, and ensure implementation.
- Supervise subcontractor work quality and production levels to achieve high standards.
- Manage materials, including ordering, inspecting, and verifying shipments.
- Monitor material requirements for each project to prevent overruns.
- Track extra work and process contractual adjustments accordingly.
- Coordinate with consultants and the Project Manager on contract discrepancies or adjustments, ensuring timely ordering of specialty materials.
- Maintain ongoing communication with developers, engineers, consultants, suppliers, client representatives, authorities, and regulatory bodies to ensure compliance and manage changes.
- Collaborate with subcontractors and clients on site measurements, ensuring accurate reporting for payments and invoicing.
- Provide progress reports, address contract discrepancies, and maintain documentation.
- Administer safety policies, conduct safety meetings, and enforce safety regulations.
- Address personnel issues and report incidents.
- Issue infractions for safety or policy violations.
- Investigate deficiencies, propose prevention measures, and ensure policy compliance.
Qualifications:
- Background in civil engineering or extensive experience in residential subdivision servicing, including earthworks, sewers, watermains, and roadworks.
- Subdivision servicing experience is required.
- Strong leadership skills and a continuous improvement mindset.
- Critical thinking, organizational, and planning skills.
- Ability to read drawings and understand municipal/regional standards in GTA or southern Ontario.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines safely and profitably.
- Proficiency with MS Office and basic technical knowledge.
- A positive, team-oriented attitude and the ability to work independently.
