Job summary

American Iron & Metal (AIM) in Canada is seeking a Site Supervisor to lead yard operations, ensure quality and safety, and coordinate planning with management. You will supervise staff, optimize processes, and drive productivity in a dynamic metal recycling environment.

You will manage performance, timekeeping, and compliance, while maintaining clear communication with upper management and your team to sustain AIM's standards of excellence and environmental responsibility.

Qualifications

• Experience as a supervisor or lead role.
• Knowledge of metal scrap industry is an asset.
• Familiarity with commercial trucks and forklifts.
• Ability to learn a variety of job descriptions.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong organizational and leadership abilities.
• Proficient in Outlook, MS Office, PowerPoint and Excel.
• Commitment to excellence and continuous improvement.

Job Description

Reporting into the Site Manager, the Site Supervisor will supervise, lead and control, in part, operational tasks relating to the yard. They will respond effectively to quality and productivity and health and safety requirements. They will see to the planning of operations and collaborate with management to continuously optimize and improve processes.

What you're responsible for

• Setting goals for performance and deadlines in ways that comply with company’s plans and vision and communicate them to subordinates
• Organizing workflow and ensure that employees understand their duties or delegated tasks
• Monitoring employee productivity and provide constructive feedback and coaching
• Maintaining timekeeping and personnel records
• Sharing information from upper management to employees and vice versa
• Preparing and submit performance reports
• Ensuring adherence to legal and company policies and procedures
• Undertaking disciplinary actions if the need arises
• Leading by example as a hands-on manager

Qualifications

• You have experience in metal scrap industry (considered an asset)
