Job summary

Objective Recruiting seeks an experienced Superintendent for on-site leadership of industrial construction projects based in Port Coquitlam, BC. The role will oversee all on-site activities, ensuring safety, schedule and budget adherence across Lower Mainland projects.

The ideal candidate has 8–10 years’ experience, strong leadership, and knowledge of sectors such as Ports & Terminals, Mining, Oil & Gas, and Pulp & Paper. Competitive compensation and career growth await.

Qualifications

  • 8–10 years of experience as a Superintendent in industrial construction.
  • Ability to lead large crews and manage multiple projects.
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, labour planning, and safety standards.
  • Experience in Ports & Terminals, Mining, Oil & Gas, and similar sectors.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Proficient with project management software and MS Office.

Responsibilities

  • Champion safety and quality in all site operations.
  • Lead on-site construction activities to meet schedule and budget.
  • Oversee daily reporting, labour productivity, equipment use, and payroll submissions.
  • Mentor foremen and field personnel to build accountability.
  • Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, equipment, and labour resources.
  • Review drawings, specs, and schedules to manage risks.
  • Support planning, estimating, and constructability reviews.
  • Maintain relationships with clients, consultants, and stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and industry best practices.

Our client is a British Columbia-based industrial contracting company that has been delivering expert installation of piping, structural, and mechanical systems since 1983. Serving industries such as petrochemical, bulk material handling, power generation, mining, ports and terminals, and pulp and paper, the company also provides maintenance, demolition, fabrication, and project management services.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, equipment, and labour resources to optimize project execution.
  • Review drawings, specifications, and schedules to proactively manage risks and identify opportunities.
  • Support project planning, estimating, and constructability reviews.
  • Maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
What You Bring
  • Minimum 8–10 years of experience as a Superintendent in industrial construction.
  • Proven ability to lead large crews and manage multiple project priorities simultaneously.
  • Strong knowledge of construction methodologies, labour planning, contract administration, and industrial safety standards.
  • Experience in sectors such as Ports & Terminals, Mining, Oil & Gas, Bulk Material Handling, Power Generation, and Pulp & Paper.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office and project management software.
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Salary: $140,000 to $170,000 per annum

The actual salary offered to the successful candidate will be determined based on job-related factors, including relevant experience, years of experience, qualifications, internal equity, and our client’s compensation policy.
