Job summary

NES Fircroft in Campbell River, BC, is seeking a Night Shift Project Superintendent for a major dam project on-site. You will lead site operations, ensure safety, quality, and schedule adherence, and coordinate with subcontractors and project teams.

The role offers a hands-on leadership position on heavy civil infrastructure, with 9-hour night shifts, a collaborative safety-focused environment, and opportunities for career growth.

Qualifications

  • 3–5+ years of experience in a construction supervision role on heavy civil infrastructure projects.
  • Experience with earthworks, structural concrete, forming, and drilling operations.
  • Dam, hydroelectric, bridge or major infrastructure project experience is highly preferred.
  • Strong leadership, communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
  • Familiarity with construction administration and project documentation.
  • Basic understanding of project cost control and financial processes.
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills; bilingualism is an asset.

  • Develop understanding of contract documents, drawings, specifications, and subcontracts.
  • Assist the Project Manager in developing and achieving project schedules and milestones.
  • Plan and coordinate construction activities with safety, quality, and environmental procedures.
  • Coordinate and monitor subcontractors, suppliers, inspection agencies, and internal crews.
  • Identify and resolve construction issues while maintaining productivity and quality.
  • Lead daily operations and chair safety and coordination meetings.
  • Prepare daily reports detailing labour, materials, equipment, and progress.
  • Review and approve timecards, payment requests, material vouchers, and invoices.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and the public.

Shift: Night Shift (5:30 PM start | Approx. 9-hour shifts)

Our client is a leading heavy civil contractor delivering some of Canada's largest infrastructure projects, including bridges, highways, tunnels, marine structures, hydroelectric facilities, and renewable energy developments.

This opportunity is based on a major dam project in Campbell River, British Columbia. The successful candidate will join the project team as a Night Shift Project Superintendent, providing on-site leadership while ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and monitor subcontractors, suppliers, inspection agencies, and internal crews.
  • Identify and resolve construction issues while maintaining productivity and quality standards.
  • Lead daily operations and chair regular safety and coordination meetings.
  • Prepare daily reports detailing labour, materials, equipment, and project progress.
  • Review and approve timecards, subcontractor payment requests, material vouchers, and invoices.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and the public.
