Job summary

Ledcor Construction, Inc. in Fort Hills, AB is seeking a skilled Sideboom Operator for long-term work on a major industrial project. The position offers a stable career with an industry leader and camp accommodations.

You will operate 583, 594, 587 and JD 1050 models, interpret capacity charts, and work with a team to safely install pipe sections while adhering to strict safety rules and pre-employment testing requirements.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years’ experience operating sidebooms.
• Must be able to interpret capacity charts and identify rigging requirements.
• Must understand capacity relationships between boom length, cable length and load limits.
• Strong commitment to workplace safety.
• Must successfully complete pre-access drug and alcohol testing.

Responsibilities

• Operate multiple sideboom models safely and efficiently according to lift plan.
• Lift, move, align, and lower pipe sections as required by project.
• Work with other operators to carry pipe sections safely.
• Maintain equipment positioning and stability on varied terrain.
• Exercise caution to maintain site safety and procedural compliance.
• Perform pre-use inspections and walk-arounds before operating.
• Complete daily equipment inspections and report maintenance issues.
• Adhere to Ledcor, client, and regulatory safety requirements.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Operate 583, 594, 587 and JD 1050 models safely and efficiently according to lift plan and site procedures
• Lift, move, align, and lower pipe sections according to project requirements
• Work in tandem with other operators to safely carry sections of pipe
• Maintain proper equipment positioning and stability, particularly on uneven or challenging terrain
• Exercise extreme caution with awareness of potential situational hazards to ensure site safety
• Perform pre-useinspectionsand equipment walk-arounds before operating
• Complete daily equipment inspections and report maintenance or safety concerns
• Adhere to all Ledcor, client, and regulatory health, safety, and environmental requirements

Qualifications:

• Minimum 3 years’ experience operating sidebooms
• Must be able to interpret capacity chart(s) and identify the rigging requirements
• Must be able to understand the capacity of each component and the relationships between the length of the boom, length of cable, cable size and load limits
• Strong commitment toworkplace safety
• Must successfully complete pre-access drug and alcohol testing

Work Conditions:

• 14 days on, 14 days off, working 12 hours per day
• Camp accommodations provided
• Charter flights provided from Edmonton and Calgary
