Job summary

Ledcor is seeking an experienced Sideboom Operator for a long-term project in Fort Hills, AB. You will operate multiple sideboom models, lift and position pipe sections, and work with a team to maintain safety and efficiency on site.

The role involves a 14 days on, 14 days off schedule with camp accommodations and charter flights from Edmonton and Calgary. Ledcor emphasizes a strong safety culture and long-term career opportunities in the oil and gas sector.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience operating sidebooms.
  • Ability to read capacity charts and determine rigging needs.
  • Understand boom length, cable length, load limits and component capacity.
  • Strong commitment to workplace safety.
  • Able to pass pre-access drug and alcohol testing.

Responsibilities

  • Operate 583, 594, 587 and JD 1050 models safely per lift plan and site procedures.
  • Lift, move, align, and lower pipe sections per project requirements.
  • Work with fellow operators to carry pipe sections safely.
  • Maintain equipment positioning on uneven terrain and ensure stability.
  • Exercise caution to identify and mitigate hazards for site safety.
  • Perform pre-use inspections and daily equipment checks; report issues.
  • Adhere to Ledcor, client, and regulatory health, safety and environmental rules.

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Operate 583, 594, 587 and JD 1050 models safely and efficiently according to lift plan and site procedures
  • Lift, move, align, and lower pipe sections according to project requirements
  • Work in tandem with other operators to safely carry sections of pipe
  • Maintain proper equipment positioning and stability , particularly on uneven or challenging terrain
  • Exercise extreme caution with awareness of potential situational hazards to ensure site safety
  • Perform pre-use inspections and equipment walk-arounds before operating
  • Complete daily equipment inspections and report maintenance or safety concerns
  • Adhere to all Ledcor, client, and regulatory health, safety, and environmental requirements
Qualifications:
  • Minimum 3 years' experience operating sidebooms
  • Must be able to interpret capacity chart(s) and identify the rigging requirements
  • Must be able to understand the capacity of each component and the relationships between the length of the boom, length of cable, cable size and load limits
  • Strong commitment to workplace safety
  • Must successfully complete pre-access drug and alcohol testing
Work Conditions:
  • 14 days on, 14 days off, working 12 hours per day

  • Charter flights provided from Edmonton and Calgary
