Job Description:

This position is located at 1458 Dundas St East, Mississauga

ACCOUNTABILITIES:
The incumbent may perform all, some, or similar range of duties.


• Interact with customers/donors in a positive, friendly, and courteous manner.
• Protect the integrity of all donated items.
• Responsible for accurate completion of all customer transactions including cash and debit sales.
• Contribute to meeting store budgets by maintaining customer service standards.
• Opening and closing of store following store procedures when required.
• Process raw materials by loading/unloading, sorting, packing, pricing and storing donations.
• Possess knowledge of stock in order to respond to customer enquiries by phone/in person.
• Pay particular attention to store security, by monitoring activity within the store.
• Handle the merchandise in a safe and organized manner; assist in stock rotation.
• Contribute to the control of inventory by receiving, sorting, and pricing as per directions.
• Assist with store layout plans to attract customers, which include window displays and merchandise displays; ensures attractiveness of the store through “Tidy Maintenance:”.
• Replenish inventory levels based on supervisor’s directions.
• Remove inventory from sales floor as directed.
• Maintain the proper sorting and processing of all donated goods, ensuring compliance with quality standards.
• Maintain an attractive organized appearance of the store, tidy up and restock shelves, clean, sweep, dust, and mop as necessary.
• Abide by store policy and procedures.
• Assist with inventory reconciliation (cycle counting).
• Provide excellent service to guests and donors.
• Act as a Team Lead/Working Supervisor for Store Associates only in the absence of the Store Manager.
• May be required to show some operations and provide on-the-job-training to staff.
• Maintains a safe and healthy work environment through compliance with Health & Safety regulations.
• Performs other work-related duties as assigned.

CRITICAL RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT:
Internal: NRO Administration, TS management and staff.
External: Donors, clients, contractors.

MANAGERIAL/TECHNICAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reports directly to the Store Manager.
Direct reports: None.
May show others how to perform certain procedures.

FINANCIAL AND MATERIAL MANAGEMENT:
• Moderate material responsibility.
• May occasionally handle petite cash.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

All Salvation Army NRO employees are required to wear safety shoes at all times in all Store and DRC locations.

This is a permanent full time position.
• Normal store environment.
• Constant physical effort (such as stretching, lifting up to 30 pounds with no assistance, bending, twisting, pushing, standing, and walking).
• Frequent exposure to fumes and dust and temperature fluctuations.
• Adherence to established deadlines must be met.
• Frequent amount of interpersonal conflict dealing with guests, donors, vendors, and employees.
• Work is varied with periods of repetitious tasks.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
• Willingness to develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada and its implications as related to position responsibilities.
• Work in compliance with OH&S Act and Regulations and abide by The Salvation Army’s health and safety policies and procedures.
Alternative combination of education and Experience may be considered.

Education, Qualifications and Certifications:
• Completion of some high school.

Experience and Knowledge:
• Two years of experience in a store or warehouse environment.

Skills and Capabilities:
• Proven interpersonal and communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.
• Physically capable of lifting/carrying up to 30 lbs on a frequent basis with no assistance from others, which includes bending, twisting, pulling, pushing of product.
• Attention to details.

Ability to undergo applicable screening and background checks successfully that are satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion.

Compensation:

The target hiring range for this position is $17.61 to $22.01 with a maximum of $26.41.

Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
