Job summary

Fairmont Hotel Macdonald in Edmonton seeks a Shift Engineer to maintain mechanical systems and support guest comfort. You will perform rounds, test water quality, and address guest requests while following safety and service standards.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 4th Class Power Engineering certificate or equivalent with 5 years supervisory experience in hospitality.

  • Computer knowledge in energy management and building automation software.
  • Strong verbal and written presentation skills.
  • Excellent teamwork and initiative.

Responsibilities

  • Perform mechanical rounds each shift.

  • Carry out preventive repairs and building maintenance tasks as assigned by the Chief Engineer.

Shift Engineer (Full Time)

In a safe and efficient manner provide maintenance services to our internal and external guests and operate the building environmental systems.

What you will be doing:
  • Complete mechanical rounds once per shift
  • Complete water quality testing of the pools once per shift
  • Respond to and rectify guest room requests
  • Perform preventive repairs, retrofits, or other tasks as assigned by the Chief Engineer in a safe and efficient manner
  • Carry out duties within the Service Plus Core Standards guidelines and the Policy of Standards
  • Must be available in the event of emergency
Physical Aspect of the Position (include but are not limited to):
  • Constant standing and walking throughout shift
  • Frequent lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs
  • Constant kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting
  • Frequent ascending or descending ladders, stairs and ramps
Your experience and skills include:
  • Minimum 4th Class Power Engineering certificate or equivalent with 5 years supervisory experience in a hospitality environment.
  • Minimum Grade 12 education.
  • Highly organized, decisive, with ability to handle multiple projects under deadlines and changing priorities
  • Computer knowledge in energy management and building automation software programs.
  • Motivated by opportunity to improve skills in all building management functions. These include trade skills, all related codes and new or innovative methods of improving efficiency and operation of the building
  • Demonstrated skills in verbal and written presentations
  • Excellent teamwork skills and high level of initiative

Must be legally eligible to work in Canada. The hotel is unable to assist candidates in obtaining work authorization documents.

Hourly Rate Range: $33.27 - $34.27 CAD Gross per hour
