Job summary

Fairmont Hotel Macdonald in Edmonton is seeking a part-time Guest Service Agent to deliver friendly, efficient front desk service and uphold our high standards of hospitality.

You will check guests in/out, answer calls, monitor rates, assist VIP and ALL loyalty arrivals, coordinate mail and packages, keep the desk organized and compliant with ALL Safe policies, and present a polished, professional appearance. Weekend and holiday availability is required.

Qualifications

  • Previous front desk/reception experience a strong asset.
  • Must have effective communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Micros PMS/Opera an asset.
  • Must have a good command of the English language.
  • Hotel/Hospitality degree or diploma an asset.
  • Available for shift work including weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Provide effective, fast service in a friendly manner.
  • Check in and out hotel guests according to standards and policies.
  • Answer incoming calls.
  • Monitor for special rates and billing arrangements.
  • Ensure the highest level of guest satisfaction by addressing concerns promptly.
  • Review and prepare for VIP and ALL loyalty members arrivals to ensure a flawless check‑in experience.
  • Coordinate the storage/delivery of guest mail/messages/packages including the monitoring, processing, and distribution thereof.
  • Keep front desk organized, tidied, and sanitized up to ALL Safe policies.
  • Maintain a professional, neat and well‑groomed appearance adhering to Hotel grooming standards.
  • Pass on any guest comments to Assistant Front Office Manager/Manager on Duty.
  • Make certain to be familiar with fire and emergency procedures.
  • Other responsibilities connected with Front Office may be required.

Guest Service Agent (Part Time)
What You Will Be Doing
  • Provide effective, fast service in a friendly manner

  • Ensure front desk is stocked with essential material
  • Maintain a professional, neat and well‑groomed appearance adhering to Hotel grooming standards
  • Pass on any guest comments to Assistant Front Office Manager/Manager on Duty
  • Make certain to be familiar with fire and emergency procedures
  • Other responsibilities connected with Front Office may be required
Physical Aspects of Position
  • Constant standing and walking throughout shift.
  • Frequent lifting and carrying up to 30 lbs.
  • Occasional kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting.
  • Occasional ascending or descending ladders, stairs, and ramps.
Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Windows XP an asset
  • Knowledge of Micros PMS/Opera an asset
  • Must have a good command of the English language
  • Hotel/Hospitality degree or diploma an asset
  • Available for shift work including weekends and holidays

You may be required to work on holidays, weekends, overnights and other non‑day shifts.

Must be legally eligible to work in Canada. The hotel is unable to assist candidates in obtaining work authorization documents.

Hourly Rate Range: $23.48 – $24.48 CAD Gross per hour.
