Job summary

University Health Network (UHN) is seeking a Shift Building Operator to support the Facilities Management team at Princess Margaret Cancer Centre. The role focuses on inspecting facilities and mechanical rooms and overseeing preventative maintenance to ensure continuous operation of critical equipment.

The position is a permanent full-time role reporting to the Supervisor, Facilities Management, offering 37.5 hours per week with rotating 24 hour shifts.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Certificate or Diploma in Building Operations or a 3rd/4th Class Stationary Engineer Certificate (TSSA) or a licensed trade certification (HVAC, Plumbing, Millwright, Electrician).
  • If licensed trade, possession of the provincial COQ.

Responsibilities

  • Performing preventative maintenance to ensure continuous operation of equipment/machinery.
  • Diagnosing problems with equipment/machinery.
  • Providing feedback to ensure new construction/modification will not impact existing systems.
  • Repairing equipment/machinery.
  • Contributing to the efficient operation of the department.

Position Summary
The Shift Building Operator is an integral part of the Plant Operations and Maintenance department andmaintainsresponsibility for inspecting the facility/mechanical room.

Duties

  • Performing preventative maintenance to ensure the continuous operation of equipment/machinery
  • Diagnosing problems with equipment/machinery
  • Providingfeedback to ensure new construction and/or modification will notimpactexisting systems
  • Repairing equipment/machinery
  • Contributing to the efficient operation of the department
Qualifications
  • At minimum, completion of high school or recognized equivalent
  • A Certificate or Diploma in Building Operations, or a 3rd or 4th Class Stationary Engineer Certificate (TSSA), or a recognized licensed trade certification (HVAC, Plumbing, Millwright, Electrician).
  • If licensed trade, possession of the provincial Certificate of Qualifications (COQ)
  • Minimum of 2 years practical and related experience
  • Computer literate to operate automated systems
  • Effective organizational, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Exercises initiative and good judgment with ability to multi-task
  • Ability to perform duties in a professional and courteous manner and produce high quality work while meeting deadlines in accordance to UHN standards
  • Knowledge of applicable legislative, UHN and/or departmental policies
  • Previous related experience in a health care setting, an asset
